Except Ryu is already much stronger than his games thus doesn't have nearly as much room to boost as one much weaker than his game. If Rivalries mattered, Red/Blue was always going to boost more from the base characters than Ryu/Ken. getting sub 55/45s during the power hour. 52/48 might be what X vs Zero

Ryu
being stronger than his games doesn't mean he won't receive a great
boost from being partnered with Ken in a 'Rivalry Contest.' Ryu/Ken is
'classic' in the same sense as Mario/Bowser or Mario/Sonic are classic.
Obviously the Fighters are not that popular here, but you aren't
going to find many other pairs that fit the 'classic' and 'iconic' bill
more than Ryu and Ken do. The argument has never been 'dumb.' It's
always been about how the voters will go with the 'rivalry' thing.
Red/Blue isn't a better rivalry by any stretch, but it is the Pokemon
option, and that makes it a threat. GameFAQs generally values Nintendo

Honestly
I think Ryu/Ken are more likely to win tomorrow. But extreme
stubbornness and hope of something interesting happening will keep me
predicting a Pokemon win. At least Trainers vs. Mario could be fun,
