Except for the original format, but Allen will never go back to just 64 entrants (although I guess smaller brackets is the drawback of that format).

Yeah, 64 characters is just too restrictive. Looking at the last character battle, assuming they would take the top 8 seeds only we would have had snubs like Donkey Kong, Knuckles, Pokemon Trainer Red, Charizard, Aerith, Vincent Valentine, Sub-Zero and Mewtwo while characters like Chloe Price, Neptune and Aloy would still make the bracket.

I had a dream Allen released a bracket, but it was only 64 characters and went back to one match per day for 24 hours. It also didn't have any Zelda, FF, Pokemon, or Mario characters in it or any of the Noble Nine, so it seemed like a pretty unpredictable from what I remember of it...!

So X was the bracket favourite?

Oh for some reason I read it as no Smash characters as well. Yeah Kirby would win then, unless another character got a bandwagon going.

MMX probably wins. MMX was virtually tied with Tifa and this seems relatively consistent with his usual strength. Kirby is an okay near-elite and all but when he doesn't get some special bandwagon or circumstances going he is just not super-strong. Alucard did much better on Bowser last contest, even, but Alucard's strength itself is gonna be a big question mark.

Based on last contest Zero would probably be # 4 but Sora-in-Smash has a good shot and if Ryu decides not to suck this time he's up there too. None of them probably loses to Donkey Kong, Dante, Big Boss, Sub-Zero, Magus, Frog, Bayonetta, 2B, Geralt, Knuckles, Fox, or whoever. Geralt would have a shot if it's the one from 2018 but after Cyberpunk some of the air's probably gone out from CD Projekt Red.

Why would Cyberpunk affect Geralt when poorly received games didn't seem to make a dent in Samus's strength? Granted that might be a false equivalence given Geralt doesn't have the same rich (gaming) history behind him.

How can Kirby be so strong when he's just a dumb pink ball? Dante should be stronger than Kirby.

I would struggle to pick X over Kirby in a bracket where we have removed everyone Kirby folds to.

X looks better in 18, but both were behind some odd results.

I don’t think I’d think twice about Kirby > X.

Post-Kirby and the Forgotten Land Kirby is a whole new Kirby.

We already had a Portal playrate poll 5 years ago.

Every other person on GameFAQs not trying either Portal game seems low, but also one in every seven people beating both Portal games repeatedly seems high.

Hmmm. Expectations pulling tricks on me again.

The Portal games are short enough that it's easy to believe someone who likes those games would play through them more than once.

The numbers have changed a lot since last night, mainly that the never-played category dropped from 50% to 40%. Solid.

Last month’s GoTM Replay was Portal and this month is Portal 2. So that’s probably worth like 3-4%. Kidding of course

I think yes. Just advertise across all the Fandom wikis evenly. It's a new company and a new unique focus of advertising GameFAQs off the site, one where the company would be taking ownership for its advertising. Our stats will be shot if it works, right, but it would also be an effort for more long-term growth. I think this would be different enough from past rallies if that was done all contest by the new parent company.

I'd be down for it. I wouldn't put that in the same category as rallying since it's not aimed at any particular group, and it's not designed to influence only a single match.

Looks like the Switch has moved up to number 2 for Nintendo consoles

N64, Gamecube, and Switch are all still fairly close though. It makes me want to see a Best Console Ever contest even if the SNES would dominate it in the end.

Gamecube was the console I owned when I was a teenager, therefore it is the best.

Yeah, but I imagine there's probably disproportionate overlap between those two. The Switch stands relatively apart as a modern day console since no one really stans for the Wii or Wii U these days.

Yeah, this is usually the time when the high profile games are released. Throw in the fact that games have been delayed due to COVID and you're seeing one of the best years in gaming since 2017.
