I picked up the PS3 Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster at some point a long time ago.

Seems so strange that almost 1 out of 4 is unemployed.

I literally lost my job two days ago. I only got the job a couple of weeks ago, having left a stable position for it. I have never before had a boss who was such an utter lunatic.

Fortunately I have a job interview in an hour. Maybe this person won't be crazy.

It’s a laborer’s market. You’ll find something quick and can probably command a higher wage. Workers have all the leverage in the economy right now.

Still having Chrono Trigger's Music and Dragon Quest's themes in Olympics...I can't believe it. If USA hosts more games I want them to have Doom's music and Guile's theme somewhere too.

IMO:

Pokemon Snap: Don't think people who played Mario Party back when it was popular don't remember what it did to their hands.
Super Mario RPG: I think its 2015 run looked artificially impressive via bandwagoning in its last few rounds, but at the end of the day, it's simply more esteemed as a singleplayer SNES JRPG here.
Final Fantasy VI: Crushes the prestige battle, which matters a lot regardless of how the contest is framed. That's also why WW > LA is a call I'd make with total confidence now that the Celda hate has all but died off.
GoldenEye 007: I could easily see this one going either way, so I'll pick the one that (relatively) benefits from forced apathy votes and doubled votes from registered users.
Sonic: FFV definitely beats Sonic Adventure. Beyond that, both of these are total wildcards, but I'll take the one voters realistically played in the early/mid 90s.
Crash Bandicoot Warped: Characters =/= games, which benefits the stronger Crash more due to Lara's modern relevance.
Parasite Eve: This is GameFAQs, after all, and how many of us really played THPS 1+2?
Panzer Dragoon Saga: In a stomping.
Silent Hill: Could be an interesting match or another blowout if it happened, but like Madden 98, GT2 probably doesn't even make the field.

The THPS Remasters make this one interesting IMO. I would also assume apathy votes would favor THPS due to PE growing more obscure over time.

I feel like the board would overrate PE based on Aya Brea's performances from 20 years ago.

I'd say 54-46 in favor of THPS, but I wouldn't feel good about the pick.

Coinflip. Would be a perfect Day 1 8/9-Seed match. I think Mario Party wins, but I'm not at all confident.

My gut instinct likes Smash 64 here for some reason, but I could easily see it on the wrong end of a 60-40 beatdown. Both games haven't aged well, but I think SMRPG's aging is less noticeable.

Yeah, I agree. Even with the Switch remakes, LA still has to overcome the "Console > Handheld" factor that only Pokemon RBY seems to be immune to.

This one is 52-48 either way. Goldeneye has aged horrendously but is fondly remembered as an N64 hallmark. FF8 is a golden-era FF that recently got a remaster. Goldeneye gets the apathy votes. FF8 has JRPG-FAQS. If the match pic comes down to Pierce Brosnan vs. River Phoenix, FF8 squeaks out a win.

What gives THPS a solid chance is that it's more of an Arcade game than a Sports game

I don't think SMRPG has aged poorly. It's still the most popular Mario RPG. The original Smash is the one that would have to deal with feeling outdated since every game after it has become more popular (even if only temporarily). Plus, I'd take SNES over N64 as a tiebreaker if it came down to it except for the very top tier N64 games, which Smash is not a part of.

And I don't think people really care about the original Pokemon Snap. Mario Party is at least a memorable game, even if only for all the injuries it caused.

-Pokémon Snap may be pretty gimmicky, but it was still a popular game. Also, Mario Party fans are very divided regarding which one's the best, so I could see the weight of them being distributed pretty evenly among the 12 (or so) titles that have been released. I mean, it could win by representative name alone, but if we put Pokémon Stadium in here instead, Stadium wins by a large margin.

-Super Mario RPG may actually be a Top 6 SNES game (CT > ALttP > FFVI > SMW > Super Metroid > SMRPG), and that's not a small thing.

-Link's Awakening could definitely beat a handful of midcarders, but no way it reaches FFVI's strength.

-Ooph!... Tough one, but I think FFVIII's strength has dropped enough to give Goldeneye the edge here. (Speaking of which, I know there's some hierarchy regarding FF titles, but I wouldn't rule out IX actually surpassing VIII in a 1v1 match nowadays. Ironically, I don't see FFIX winning against Goldeneye, but I could be wrong.)

-Sonic 3&K > Sonic 2 > FFV >= Sonic 1 > Sonic Adventure would be my guess.

-Both Crash 2 and 3 could take on any classic Tomb Raider. If it was Crash 1, it could be a little more debatable, though I'd still give the edge to Crash. I can only see Tomb Raider (1 or 2) beating Spyro 2 and 3, but not 1.

-Parasite Eve may be pretty weak (and nobody cared about The 3rd Birthday), but classic PS1 Square game vs. tecnically-not-the-strongest sports game on the site, sounds more in favor of the former.

-Panzer Dragoon wins by a mile. I'd even take SaGa Frontier to beat Madden 98. I don't remember when Tecmo Super Bowl got released, but that would be a somewhat better match. (If we really need a sports game in, though, it would be awesome to see International Superstar Soccer Deluxe in there.)

-Silent Hill may not be Resident Evil kind of strong (though Silent Hill 2 vs. RE1 would be an interesting match), but it's still iconic enough to beat Gran Turismo 1 or 2. If it was Gran Turismo 3 we were talking about here, it would be another story.

FFIX stood up to Ocarina last we saw it, it's not losing to Goldeneye.

I was always under the impression that Pokemon Snap was quite popular with both fans and non-fans.

Remember that the strength of every Pokémon game on the site heavily re the casual fans' opinion. We're basically GenwunnerFAQs, lol.

That being said, many fans eagered for a new Pokémon Snap for a long time and Nintendo finally reacted by releasing New Pokémon Snap just recently.

If the hardcore fanbase's opinions and discussions were prioritized instead, we would've already had the Mystery Dungeon games represented for years now.

It's possible I've just misread things because I am not in tune with the Pokemon fanbase. I'd be reluctant to trust Snap though.

I picked Vivi > Ganondorf in 2018 because FFIX's 2015 showing and the FF polls in the last decade convinced me that Vivi > Squall and Vivi > Mario weren't flukes (I mean, Vivi > Mario kinda was, but 2004 Vivi doesn't beat Mario there even with Ganondorf).

The N64/PSX era is aging a lot worse than the SNES is, so the real question is when will LttP be beating OoT!

I don't know that this is necessarily true either! The SNES doesn't dominate B8 like it does on the main page, but it's going to hold its own just fine.
