Man Fortnite is in trouble!

So I had this dream the other night.

I was walking out of a mall, and I found out noms for a new Character Battle had already opened a few days ago. I thought: “Oh, already? ('Cause we were then having 2 contests in the year...) Well, Allen did promise to do contests more often, so this is a nice surprise! Poor azuarc, though... He only lasted in our sigs for like 3 months!”

Then I looked at a giant structure in which was a projection of the characters with most noms at the moment, and Cloud was at the top, with Link nowhere to be found, implying that Link was finally retired.

Oh, and @LeonhartFour was also there, floating in mid-air, for no apparent reason.

As I am wont to do

Metroid, the original game, has huge playrate for such an old title.

This is OldFAQs, after all.

But seriously, it seems as if the decrease in votals has filtered out the younger demographic who hasn't played older games.

Keep in mind it's been re-released on GCN (through a Metroid Prime/Fusion link), GBA twice (NES Classic cart and Zero Mission unlockable), Virtual Console releases, and Switch Online.

Lot of opportunities to play it. Now whether people enjoy it...that's another question altogether. I'm a big Metroid guy, and personally I think it's the worst 2D Metroid by a mile. Metroid II for Gameboy s***s all over M1.

I'm kind of amazed that 80% of this site has played a Metroid game, but then again I might just be thinking back to the games' underwhelming showings in pre-2010 games contests.

Metroid could be the #5 NES game on this site, it just always gets stuck behind Zelda/Mario.

How do you pre-order a PS5 without knowing the price of it?

Why would you have to know the price of something to pre-order it? And this is just a list to be on to get notified when pre-orders are made available anyway.

Actually, it isn't the first time a PotD contained a hyperlink. I know right away that wasn't the case, because I remembered these polls from the 2012 GotY polls:

Today I dreamed Mario Odyssey put up a good fight against Mario 64 in a BGE, and Leon had voted for Odyssey but it was a bummer to see Mario 64 advance, though expected.

I would vote for Mario Odyssey, and I think it could hold up decently against Mario 64, depending on your definition of "decently"

I see BotW doing better on OoT than Odyssey on 64

Odyssey would get beat badly. I think there's a fundamental difference between Super Mario 64 and every other 3D Mario game. GameFAQs doesn't actually like 3D Mario *that* much, but 64 is put on a pedestal for revolutionizing 3D gaming as a whole. It was probably the first 3D game a lot of people played, and that means a lot.

It also doesn't help Odyssey that GameFAQs is stuck in the 90s.

BotW is the only Zelda game to sell better than its corresponding Mario game. I feel like that means a lot, especially since every Zelda is already stronger here than its corresponding Mario game.

I think Odyssey would avoid the doubling, but its ceiling is 40%.

I'd like to see BotW against a strong '90s era game that isn't another Zelda.

BotW probably steamrolls everything that isn't major competition.

Heck, it probably even beats Mario 64 with ease and I wouldn't be surprised.

Mario 1 is stronger than Zelda 1, making it the only known case of a Mario game being stronger than its corresponding Zelda game on this site. Though that was back in 2009 where Mario 1 beat Zelda 1 twice during the 2009 Games Contest, with the second match-up being much closer. Then Mario 1 folded hard under the weight of 2 other Mario games to finish last place in a match where Zelda 1 was a massive sore thumb.

I mean, SMG2 probably beats Skyward Sword, if you want to count line that. The NES has two Mario games stronger than the strongest NES Zelda.

It's just that the strongest Zelda game on every console is stronger than the strongest Mario game on that console, except on NES.
