As a major fan of the older games, the new God of War took a while to find its rhythm. It starts slow but the combat options really open up around the halfway point.

If you don't like the exploring though... I'm assuming you at least got to the World Serpent? If you got at least an hour or two beyond that and aren't enjoying yourself, yeah, I'd give up on the game too.

I beat the game. I did like the story and thought it was very pretty.

You DO get the Blades of Chaos back maybe halfway through. And they are still just as awesome as they ever were.

Hmmmm... This is intriguing. But with my backlog what it is, maybe I'll swing around to again when I run out of things to play. I recently platinumed Spiderman and am cleaning up the dlcs, which I found to be delightful from the jump.

The new God of War didn't nail the ending though, at least for me. It felt like the final chapter(s) was just missing. It's one of the main reasons I think it falls short of the first 2 PS2 games.

OoT has probably my favorite ending sequence of all time (starting from climbing the stairs as the piano music fades in).

With the boat and how the world is sectioned off by the lake, GoW's structure reminds me most of Beyond Good and Evil.
If you're only on this board to whine about "SJWs", please redirect whatever you type on to the nearest trash can. And hop in after it.
I would really love if Mass Effect ends up doing better on BotW then Smash
The axe is better than the second weapon in GoW 2018, but both work depending on your play style.

My #1 piece of advice is to never lock on to anything.

Not a good enough one to make RE2 the third strongest game in the top half so it's useless.

There's still time and it's still going up!

Although for the sake of my Second Chance I'd like it to stay right around where it is.

If Zelda can consistently gain for the next seven hours, I think there's still a good chance RE2 can outplace Smash in the raw stats. Its pace seems to have slowed, though. =(

Witcher 3 being nowhere close to being a top 3 game of the contest would be shocking at this point.

Nah, Melee is still the strongest Smash game. At least, indirectly (and I wouldn't pick Ultimate over it). Has a more dedicated/hardcore following, rally potential and is capable to beating FF7 and Chrono Trigger.

Ultimate is getting SFF'ed badly, but there's only so much SFF I can take until I start to wonder how strong it actually is. What would it get against Mario 3, Metal Gear Solid, or Super Metroid?

Melee isn't as strong as people think

But the fans would rally if it ever got in danger of losing so what does it matter
Melee's pre-rally 2015 run wasn't too amazing. It should have beaten KHII by more than what it managed.
tgs2 5/11/2020 10:53:31 AM#273
CT was putting up similar numbers for Melee (Registered users) and FFX. Either Melee stayed strong, or FFX weakned quite a lot. The latter does not help the "CT > OoT indirectly" cause one bit.

not following your logic here

FFX and Melee have been at similar strength levels in every contest they've shared together and 2015 was no different

Is this the most dominant performance? A contest entry has reached the final match and nothing can even avoid a doubling!
So why we exist? What happens when we stop existing?
Nice job Hylian Knight 3, you were better than me in the Guru Contest!
Ranticoot 5/11/2020 12:08:21 PM#284
I hope Witcher 3 breaks 40% in the final. If Skyrim is there, I don't see it doing it.

In the Years contest (yes this really happened), 1998 put up 66% in the final. Let's not hope for a repeat of that at least.
Born to lose, live to win!
BotW needs to get the actual doubling on Witcher to overtake 1998 as the most dominant contest entrant ever.

Depending on how the finals go, I suppose someone could still make a case for BotW, as Witcher could emerge as the only entrant that could escape its doubling. For the years contest, it looked like 2-4 entrants (2001, 1994, 1997, and 1995) could have possibly escaped (or barely did escape) a doubling from 1998.
LeonhartFour 5/11/2020 12:12:10 PM#286
BotW getting the actual doubling would help my Second Chance tremenously!

using P5, BOTW gets 61.01% on Witcher 3
Safer_777 5/11/2020 12:15:07 PM#287
Proof that Years was so bad. Seriously a doubling in the finals and no SFF too? Damn. Also apparently Years contest is so bad that there isn't a single anallysis on Board 8 wikia, nor I can see anywhere the matches too!
So why we exist? What happens when we stop existing?
Nice job Hylian Knight 3, you were better than me in the Guru Contest!
It wound up being a fun little diversion contest. After consecutive firestorms with Draven and Undertale, we needed something like Years.
LeonhartFour 5/11/2020 12:21:15 PM#289
I honestly can't tell you a single thing about Years other than certain entrants getting ripped off on match pictures

so if what we needed was something none of us remembers then yes mission accomplished
I barely remember anything in 2015 aside from Undertale. I forgot about my own Mario RPG upset pick (which might be my best prediction ever) until someone else reminded me a couple years ago.

We needed something safe that wouldn't wreck SBAllen again. Who knows what a third s***ty rally win would have done.

2015 was a really solid contest even if you completely throw the Undertale stuff out!

I get that the Undertale stuff is hard to completely ignore and soured people on the overall experience, but it was fun for the most part.

I wouldn't even put Years above Rivalry Rumble. At least RR had the Pokemon Trainers as a memorable run (similar to Zelda in 2018, honestly), even if the best match of the contest technically didn't even count!
Years is easily the worst. It was so low stakes because no one could actually get emotionally invested. There isn't anyone who's out there really hyped to see their favorite year win the way you would with a game/character/quote.
HaRRicH 5/11/2020 12:30:44 PM#296
Melee is strong, but let's not put it on a pedeatal. Ultimate beat it in that SSB-poll and Brawl beat it one-on-one. I still might take Melee > Ultimate, but Melee isn't assured victory is my main point with that statement.

Rivals was bad. It was nice to see Squall/Seifer make a deep run, I guess, but there wasn't much of note there.

My main memory of Rivals other than the Trainers was yoblazer getting eliminated from the Guru on literally the second day of the contest because he took Jill/Nemesis over Kirby/Meta Knight!

what a chalky bracket
HaRRicH 5/11/2020 12:33:18 PM#299
Biggest problem with the Years contest is it ignored system releases. It had other problems too though.

2015 >> Years >= 2013
Safer_777 5/11/2020 12:34:44 PM#300
Okay Rivalry Rumble and Years are the bottom 2. We should have a bonus poll where these 2 face each other!
