So I'm going to take this moment to shill the contest prowess of two of my all-time favorite - Xenoblade and Dark Souls. Xenoblade went from losing to Donkey Kong Country 2 in 2015 to winning its own division. People are already impressed by that, but I think it's also being understated how incredibly well it held up against Ultimate. Nintendo SFF can be brutal, and even if we roll with the notion that it holds up better than 'traditional' Nintendo properties it still outperformed A Link Between Worlds by 6% and only underperformed Mario Odyssey by 4%. That's damn good, and overall it's come a long way. Dark Souls has come an even longer way. Make no mistake - it gets rolled by Skyrim in 2015. 60-40d at least. Keeping pace with even a weakened Skyrim is impressive as hell and shows how much people's respect of the series has grown over the years. It's Reyn Time. (edited 5/9/2020 5:29:31 PM) |
