There's a point where you just have to believe what you see Leon did the x-stats for the Smash/Odyssey Division and they look wacky if you take Smash to win. If

Yeah,
we've seen Nintendo matches where one entrant looks clearly stronger
than the other and then the match itself doesn't play out that way.
We've seen it happen in both Bowser/Kirby matches. Heck, Melee was considered to be the favorite going into the match against Brawl, and that didn't work out either! |

I'll make a comparison to another legendary N64 multiplayer experience in Goldeneye, which again, would eat most of this bracket alive, but didn't really have much of a shot at Skyrim when they faced in 2015. MK64 would be the strongest but im not sure by how much like, i'm fairly sure it still wouldnt be beating Skyrim here. |

Probably the best way of looking at the hypothetical MK64 question is: which games in the final 16 do you think it could take? Dragon Quest XI? Either of the Div 2 finalists? Persona 4 Golden? There's
no way GTAV is not turd of the round. Not saying Skyrim isn't weaker
than in 2015, but this was what purple thought it'd get on average. Meanwhile, GTAV was the heavy favorite this round because P4G only barely beat RDR and we instead saw the same match only where GTAV ended up slightly worse than RDR. GTAV losing also crowned a winner in Last Man Standing because all but 1 remaining user felt safe enough about it. Guinness Book of World Records is the name of the diary that belongs to Advokaiser, the winner of the Character Battle X guru contest. |

The
Smash community is really bizarre and unpredictable in general. They
tend to have a love/hate relationship with Smash games and change their
opinions on a dime based on random nonsense like "I don't like one of
the 11 DLC characters added to a game with 70+ fighters, therefore it's
all ruined now." There's a video that's been making the rounds
nitpicking about stuff like buffering and character gimmicks that seems
to have turned some people against Ultimate lately despite it having
very positive reception at launch. Smash also has a complicated
relationship with more casual fans who typically love the game itself
but get soured on it by toxic fans. At the very least it's definitely a more unstable relationship than Mario Odyssey fans who are generally more like "this game is fun and I like it." It might take down some of the weaker entries in the top 16, but if Goldeneye can't beat Skyrim (even with Skyrim losing a bit of luster, I don't think that result flips), I don't think think Mario Kart 64 can beat one of the top tier entrants in this contest like Dark Souls. At in-person tournaments tho most ppl tend to be pleasant, although I have seen more than one controller launched in the past (and the TOs never seem to do s*** about these ppl so long as they play decently enough) If
