uncharted 4 is probably the weakest uncharted game. FFXIV is an MMO. MK barely got 60 on them. Games like Galaxy and Odyssey would destroy it

don't get me wrong. smg2 was probably the last nintendo game i really enjoyed before giving up on nintendo in favor of sony/pc/mobile in the current gen. but fans criticized it for being linear & too derivative of smg1.

smg1 is likely more popular than smg2 because it at least took the series in a new direction. and this was how it did in similar contests:

in 2010 gotd smg1 beat annual pokerehash ruby/sapphire/emerald by a 59-41 margin, then lost to zelda:tp, a game that received decent critical acclaim upon release but isn't particularly popular among the fanbase due to being too derivative & having too much padding. (edit: thanks tre for correcting me on smg1-rse margin.)

Nah, I think OoT is tied to Nintendo's spot in the mainstream, and the Switch's success has put it out of reach for now. Give it a couple years when the Switch is at the end of its lifecycle and Nintendo unveils the Switch U to crickets and then we'll talk.

nust because pokemon sucks now doesn't mean people forget the older ones. I hate pokemon now but GSC i have nostalgia for and RBY. Because i remember when pokemon use to be good

I mean, Skyrim is much older than Witcher 3 and still has twice as many players currently playing on Steam than Witcher 3. Even Fallout 4 is above it.

Those kinds of totally interactive worlds that are highly moddable lead to far more replayability then a story focused WRPG. Theres a big demand for them still to keep doing what they're doing.

One day people will learn that new Pokemon generations just make RBY stronger.

Thanks to Sword and Shield RBY is now up to 55% on OoT. After next generation it'll be up to 58%.

Keep in mind that NieR has to end a few times before you get to the true ending.

There's a big disconnect the hardcore Pokemon fans have with how the site actually votes. They come in to make arguments based on them being plugged into the forums and reddit and serebii.com ect., without realizing that GameFAQs doesn't give a f***. GameFAQs doesn't care if Pokemon's status as a quality series is declining, because they already stopped playing 15 years ago. GameFAQs is the site that voted an N64 game as its previous Game of the Decade and is voting a remake of a game released two decades ago as one of the 16 best games of THIS decade. GameFAQs is the site where all of its Top 10 Games were released before the year 2001. GameFAQs doesn't complain about Genwunners - they ARE the Genwunners.

Modding is like the huge appeal of the games. I wouldn't have put nearly 500 hours into Skyrim or 600 hours into Fallout 4 without being able to mod the games to totally change my experience every time. And thats only doable because of Bethesda making the games the way they do.

There's a really good chance the second strongest Pokemon game from this decade is Pokemon Go, if only because that's the player base in play here.

I still think that's a very lofty expectation. Skyrim's already lost whatever "favorite" status of reaching the final it had. If it can push this into the low 60s, it at least reclaims coin flip odds against Dark Souls, which is about the best it can do at this point.

Who on Board 8 still favors Skyrim to beat Witcher?

To be fair, there is one new game (Breath of the Wild) in the GameFAQs top 10 versus 2015. It's theoretically possible that BotW has kicked out RBY, but RBY would need to have fallen since 2015, which is rather unlikely as KP pointed out.

I'd guess the current top 10 in contest strength (when discounting major rallies) is something like this:

1. Ocarina of Time
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Final Fantasy VII
4. Breath of the Wild
5. Link to the Past
6. Pokémon RBY
7. Super Mario 64
8. Super Mario World
9. Final Fantasy VI
10. Majora's Mask

The best chance Skyrim has of not losing to Witcher is having Persona 5 pull the upset, and then it probably just loses to Persona 5.

Based on an analysis I did, I estimated around 35% of this site are former Pokemon fans who quit Pokemon at some point before Gen 3 started. They are still a minority among the overall Pokemon fanbase that does exist on this site, but still a fairly sizable minority. This was detailed in the following post:

It is that 35% which makes RBY so strong on this site and why GSC is also stronger than all of the later Pokemon games that came after it. Hardcore Pokemon fans do not hold RBY in such high regard that we see from former fans who quit after Gen 2.

if persona 5 bears witcher it means it got rallied. And skyrim has no chance against a rallied p5. Hell a rallied p5 against botw is where its at

I'm going to throw out 75/25.

I figure the originals score the bread and butter nostalgia votes and people that like Nintendo casually, but the remakes are what take the apathetic and anti-votes, as well as the contingent of hardcore Pokemon votes.
