Didn't get to post yesterday.

Finally got on the leaderboard thanks to RE2. 49th yesterday and 48th today. Usually manage to get on for a few days each contest, so I'm glad I managed to do it again before my bracket died. Getting a 0 today with RDR and FE. Overrating FE cost me 14 points, though not sticking with my initial gut pick of Witcher over Skyrim will likely cost me more in the end.

Still, not bad considering I've only played one game in this contest. And funnily enough, ZenithianLegend, who is one spot behind me on the leaderboard, posted yesterday that he has played zero.

It really amazes me that we're seeing so much movement from a match of two critically-acclaimed Nintendo RPGs.

Along with lots of people my bracket dies today from trusting Three Houses, but at least I die in a way that my favorites bracket gets points!

Keeping a small eye on the other match. I think P4G had enough of a lead, but GTAV have some weird huge cuts that make it a bit fun to watch.

Are the only ones I 100% takeover it.

Ones I'd consider:

Dragon Quest XI
Persona 4 (for my bracket plz)
Fallout New Vegas
God of War

So in all likelyhood top ten I think yeah.

I don’t think Persona 5 is s lock by any means, and the only ones I’d say seems likely is God of War. We’ll see on Mass Effect 2 also.

I consider Persona 5 a lock tbh. It has screamed 'big deal' every round so far.

I'd sure be in great doubt if it was up against HGSS or SMG2 (was this included in Super Mario?) too.

ME2 we'll get a pretty great read on next round.

Hmm, I'd probably hesitate against ALBW because it's Zelda, though it would take some SFF from Smash to make it seem possible.

One of the best RPGs ever, I believe the second best reviewed JRPG of the last 20 years behind Persona 5. It’s terrific, and that’s s popular opinion!

It's my personal game of the decade

It's probably my third favorite JRPG of the last 20 years. Paper Mario 2 and FFX are above it, I'm in doubt of some gen 4-5 Pokemon games too.

But that's still very high for me!

Persona is winning Europe and most of America. GTA might stall, but I don't see it actually flipping anything.

Xenoblade looking like a god slayer. It is almost breaking 60% on the pre-contest division favorite. Jesus Christ.

I would have taken P4 original in a match without thinking before but this has me thinking if forget Golden (which has no chance) but even the original would have beaten it in a match.

I think it was always like that. Back in the day SSBM and SSBB had a really good day vote and then SSBM vs SSBB got stuck with a night match. >_>

A night match actually benefited SSBB more because it was a more mainstream Smash game than SSBM, and because the Wii's success (in terms of units sold) meant the game was more accessible in regions where Nintendo has historically been weaker compared to North America. SSBB won the Europe vote pretty easily in that match. I don't know if a day match would have affected the result, as SSBB would still get to ride the ASV to a possible win since the newer game in a series typically has the better day vote.

But it looks like P4G is safe. Wish I hadn't backed down from picking it here because I was afraid it'd suffer from being a port!

Xenoblade has always been well liked by its player base, but it definitely started out more niche, plus, it took a few years for it to be released everywhere. It was certainly hurt by being out late in the Wii's lifetime and it was no saving grace for the Wii. Nor did it overshadow Skyward Sword at all, that's not what happened. Skyward Sword didn't do as well as they'd hoped, that had nothing to do with Xenoblade.

Xenoblade has gotten more exposure since then. No doubt Smash helped quite a bit, was probably what got the ball rolling.

Xenoblade only did slightly better than Awakening against the same opponent in 2015, now it's winning big time against what we all believe is a stronger Fire Emblem game. It also beat Splatoon 2 by a good amount more than it would be projected to do against the first one in 2015, and I don't think anyone believes the Wii U game would be the stronger of the two. It clearly boosted over the last 5 years. The update coming is probably not the deciding factor here, but I'm sure it helps that it has gotten some trailers for that too.

this isnt a new game. People already know xenoblade is good. So the hype is based on playing a remake/remaster of an already existing great game. This isnt xenoblade 3
