Crapcom stopped caring about Leon after Mikami left. HAd Mikami still been at Capcom Leon would be the Star.

I'm still not convinced that Geno's support base isn't a communal fever dream that started 15 years ago and never ended.

It baffles me that Leon's not in Smash yet. I wonder if there's still bad blood over the Capcom Five or if the guns are "too realistic" or Capcom has too many other representatives or whatever.

i don't think resident evil characters will ever get in smash. the main issue is probably the face models

Oh it's definitely because Resident Evil doesn't fit in Smash that well. What would their movesets be? They don't punch and kick like Snake or have access to the ridiculous sci fi weapons he possesses (mostly).

I said SRPG"s have a ceiling. FE would beat most RPG"s in this bracket....but you know what? Put it up against a Xenoblade or Persona 5 and it would fold. When in reality FE has everything going for it. It has a s*** ton of Smash Support it has huge Nintendo Marketing and a ton of Games in its series

Xenoblade has like 3 games...and the first 1 came out on wii.

I always thought a monster like Nemesis would be best. (Pyramid Head is my secret most wanted)

Jill , Wesker and Chris are already in marvel vs capcom 3 anyways

they could just copy their moveset from there (with some adaptations obviously)

Also...What the hell happened in that 2nd update after the Freeze? Xenoblade jumped like nearly 4%. f***ing Reyn Time right there. ITs like it was neck and neck for 10 mins and then Monado came and ended it. Love it.

What's so bad about several Fire Emblem characters making it to Smash? Doesn't that game have like a million characters? I'm sure there's plenty of room. Plus FE has LOTS of characters, so it's not like it doesn't proportionately fit.

Every single Fire Emblem character is a sword user from a series with at least, what, 3 or 4 more weapon types off the top of my head (lance, pegasus, archer, axe)? 4 of them play basically the same (Marth, Roy, Lucina, Chrom), Corrin came in when we already had 6 other Fire Emblem reps and before his game even released so nobody knew who he was, and Byleth came after a million memes about too much fire emblem and we already had 7 other reps plus he was the last DLC in a pack that was exclusively third party and greatly hype inducing for most of the fans. Fire Emblem outreps Zelda (the most prominent example, there are certainly others you can use here instead) in Smash despite Zelda having a million more interesting characters and BotW nearly outselling the entire FE series on its own. Sakurai has even recently come out and said there's an excessive amount of Fire Emblem reps in the roster

I don't doubt the series itself is probably fine, but jesus f***. There are way more prominent series' that could use more reps, or even just different weapons/characters from the FE series itself would be better over more (mostly) blue haired anime sword dorks.

Leon has some close-range moves; guy practically invented the modern day QTE (for better or worse). Kicks, suplex, his knife. He'd work.

EDIT: If Nintendo wants to minimize the real life guns, he also has his normal, Flash, and Incendiary grenades that can function as his special moves. Heck, REMake Jill can also work by utilizing different rounds of her grenade launcher. RE helped keep the GameCube alive; that series really should have a presence in Smash.

I just really hate taking the pistols away from RE protags. Their most iconic stance is when they're holding those things!

Remember when we thought Three Houses was the strongest FE game in the bracket? That was quaint.

(Though I agree with TRE that Xenoblade is just flat-out strong.)

As of December 2019, the Fire Emblem franchise has sold 15.965 million copies worldwide. As of December 2019, BotW has sold 18million on Switch and Wii U.

Yeah, they should remove all the sword-users in Smash to increase diversity. We need more people who primarily punch and kick - we only have 50 or so.

The only FE character i care about in Smash is Marth..and thats only because i don't see him as a FE Character...just my Main from Melee.

I think it still might be. At the very least I think it's competitive with Awakening. But this is Xenoblade's 3rd strong showing in a row and I feel like it deserves a bit more respect rather than people making excuses yet again.

Persona 5 is the only JRPG to have higher Review average than Xenoblade in the last 10 years. ITs an hugely respected game. And if you this is strong. Post Switch release it will be even stronger.

so...how much of a lead would you say is safe for Persona here?

I'm assuming Xenoblade will be the heavy board favorite in the division finals next round. It's earning some respect.

I think Persona is safe as is since it will just rally to stay ahead.

I'm not even going to pretend to try and understand how trends in this contest work anymore, but if you have Persona 4 you should feel good. Not great, but good.

I wouldn't be surprised if Three Houses is still the #2 game in this division and Xenoblade just cruise controls to the Elite Eight.

Nintendo should drop enough Xenoblade Definitive Edition trailer before the next match I should call up my friend Doug Bowser.

I think Xeno has a bit of a rally boost. It just shot from 57%-58% in fifteen minutes with little dropoff in FE3H votes.

I mean, the two games are tied in the UK, and Persona is winning everywhere else. That was not the case for the Red Dead match.

The Wii version is bad and the 3DS version is even worse.

WE will finally see a version of Xenoblade that does the game justice.

Smash just barely hit 64% against Spiderman. Xeno is comfortably keeping it under 60. Mario is a toss up

But we need more Xenoblade Switch hype. Hopefully a Trailer...better yet a Demo.

before tournament started I thought P4 would beat Xenoblade just due to Jrpg hierarchy or something. kinda assumed most people would favor Persona in a match between those series

but now i think Xenoblade is definitely the favorite to win.
