Now thinking about it Three Houses would have a super hard time in Round 4 because any rally spillover from Ultimate would kill it.

Zelda and Donkey Kong fans that play Smash also don't like that Sakurai is biased towards Fire Emblem.

I truly hope to understand the Xenoblade love with this rerelease. The three times I've attempted, once with an emulator, I was unable to handle it for more than 1 hour.

If Chrono Trigger was an SRPG..sure it would be popular. But not as popular as it is now.

Well, the dream is over. Still, I'm pleased with my bracket all things considered.

Also, this reminds me that I do own a sealed copy of Xenoblade Chronicles, so add that to the list of games I have but haven't played yet.

Most Smash fans think the series is overrepresented over other more popular series like Zelda. Fire Emblem definitely doesn't have the smash or zelda vote on this site

As for the idea of P4G being a pro Vita game...hell, I didn't even play that game on the Vita! I bought a Vita, played VLR, got a Playstation TV, and then immedietly sold the Vita, because why the f*** wouldn't I?

All Vita games after that were PSTV now and forever. May as well forget the thing even existed.

At a casual level people are just mad they keep focusing on this one series while whatever pet favorite they have isn't getting the same love

At a competitive level people are sick of all these characters with giant disjointed that make them a pain in the ass to fight. Lucina, Chrom, and Roy all have legitimate claims to being top tiers

Smash fans hate how many it has been getting ever since FE got bigger worldwide with Awakening. Smash fans are usually pissed at everything in general from what I’ve seen of their communities though. Most of those guys would probably kill Sakurai if they could get away with it

My point with Byleth is the timing.

If Byleth was just announced as DLC, fine.

But Byleth was the final secret character in a DLC pack of all third-party entrants, all from series that beforehand had no Smash representation, that most people who cared about that spot already owned, and it was a hyped up spot. Could it be Dante? Could it be Master Chief?

It was, from a 'this is exciting and cool' spot, the worst place for MORE FIRE EMBLEM. A comparison would be Metroid Prime Pinball vs. Metroid Federation Force. Doing a silly little sidegame when Metroid is getting plenty of actual Metroid games? A neat little game that has Metroid in the title. Doing it when people are worried if the series is dead coming off Other M? Completely different in terms of how it will be accepted.

Go to the Smash Ultimate board and search for Corrin. That should give you an idea of how much they loathe the fact that Fire Emblem has too many reps.

The fun fact about Byleth is that a leaker outright deconfirmed all the popular picks people wanted, and they were ignored because people got it in their heads that it was going to be Dante because ???

Byleth was mishandled and a lame choice but the backlash is largely a result of the Smash fanbase's immaturity and warped expectations

Hmmm, I thought there were various classes in FE: Pirates, archers, pegasus riders, magicians, thieves, dudes with tanks, dragon lords, shapeshifters... if they included only the sword guys that would've been a dumb mistake.

I like Fire Emblem and I have the same logic you do, my friend. There is infinite design space, who cares right?

You need to understand the social illiteracy of these people to really get it. For a lot of them, Byleth getting into Smash Brothers was a literal cold sweat traumatic experience. I am not joking. I once had to deal with Inui playing with my casual group in college. The dude would throw actual manic fits if anyone turned items on or had any casual fun whatsoever, and generally ruined the whole point of the game (fun party time with friends).

So whenever he was around we would play on the Mario Bros 3 pipe level with items on and gang up on him until he raged off, drove home. and then he would come back with his own Wii and hook it up to a TV 10 feet away in the cafeteria and be going off to absolutely no one (because no one wanted to be around the idiot).

There are thousands and thousands of these people. And I guarantee you none of them will ever vote for Fire Emblem if presented with any other option. Imagine my regret at ever defending these people, thinking like them, or wanting to be around them at all. I wish I could go back in time and be on Brawl's side instead of Melee's during the last GotD, because Brawl represented people actually willing to have fun. Melee is just people like Inui and mew2king. Brawl was a bad game, do not get me wrong, but there is a clear difference between Brawl fans and Melee fans at the time and I legitimately am grateful I finally got out of the cult.

Leon sort of makes sense purely from his RE4 Appearance.

I'm still a bit miffed that Leon skipped over both Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Marvel Infinite (not that missing the latter was important).
