Bloodborne is in a really good spot to take advantage of passionate fans - not only is the Souls fanbase very dedicated, but Bloodborne's status as a PS4 exclusive gives it an extra edge among console wars enthusiasts looking to prove superiority.

Sometimes I'll text people if there's a close match, but I tend to just say "Whoa, this is close" or something and try not to prod them.

My friend I messaged literally said "who gives a s*** about RE2, why would anyone vote for that?", so it's not like I had any reason to play coy.

Oh hey, RE2 might reanimate yet.

For all the talk about the votes that we 'lost' in the two hour window coming back, they...well, didn't. We're currently 1500 votes behind yesterday's matches at the same time. If you subtract the delayed start time (2 hours 10 minutes) and instead look at where yesterday's votes were at 16:25 on the poll updator...we're still 300 votes behind. Considering there was a rally, that's rough.

Yep. This is Sonic/Samus 2002 all over again. I will never consider this result legitimate no matter who wins.

That was RE2's smallest update of the entire match.

My username is the best Metroid weapon, but even I'll be the first to admit that Sonic wins that if he gets the normal board vote.

On the bright side, all the best matches have some controversy attached to them.

100 votes for a match as close as this one is definitely important.

100 votes is HUGE in this match.

Especially user votes (aka the type of people who typically vote within the first couple hours of a poll)

There's definitely an asterisk by this one, but it grows in size if Bloodborne is the winner. IMO it's reasonable to make the case that its rally has a greater influence on a 22-hour match versus a 24-hour match.

That said, I'm not sure when the rally was originally posted and gained traction, and whether it would have done so earlier had the match started on time.

But as he said, those are the ones that came back.

Most people on the board visit more than once per day. The whole point of the board vote is that it's the people who care the most about voting. Why would the delay effect these voters at all?

Absolutely. If one side starts out dominating, it can discourage the other fanbase from bothering to rally/text friends/etc.

I can't imagine much of the board vote was lost, though it might have been spread out throughout the entire day, particularly in the opening hour.

It's whatever casual traffic we had during those two hours and change that we lost votes from.

I have ~75 voters for RE2 coming in around 7:55pm.

I almost didn't check GameFAQs at all today because I assumed it was a 24-hour delay.

Here's my current Pros/Cons list regarding the outcome of this match:

Resident Evil 2 wins:
-It's in my bracket
-Game is pretty good
-Less people complaining about rallies
-FFD seems like he needs a win, like, mentally
-Probably more fair?

Bloodborne wins:
-It's god damn Bloodborne

Very tough call.
