Huh, I thought the rally was on the subreddit frontpage since the very beginning. Why is it gaining traction only now?

would be cool to see how Horizon/ME is going to and have some clear notion of how much it might be beneffiting from the rally

i think topics only get in the front page when there's a lot of engagement. which took a while but they seem to have got there...

Yeah okay, one rally is definitely helping a lot more than the other. Bloodborne is tearing the lead.

Alright I'm back. Looks like RE2 slowly built up a lead and Bloodborne has been cutting since. Were we assuming the night vote would favour Bloodborne, or is this all the rallies doing?

This seems to be mostly rally, especially since RE2 is up 55% in the UK. Usually that would be a sign of success in the deadzone/Europe vote.

Bloodborne does seem to be doing better with the Europe vote but not everywhere by any means. It is also winning in Canada so America waking up might not save RE2.

Woke up, checked the results. Apparently it took around 2 hours for the matches to start? Why is that?
Also a rally...

That was a 68% update. Bloodborne is just going to chew through this lead in the next half hour.

When the cuts are this huge, there's no reason to doubt it's the rallies.

You mean from when the poll wasn't up? That's probably quite difficult to tell. I'd imagine most right away and otherwise spread out nicely.

I voted about 15 minutes after the poll went up

Now it's a 72% update I would be utterly shocked if Bloodborne wasn't leading by 3 AM PDT.

I am extremely salty about this.

I am okay with rallies...but not for games like Bloodborne! Eh. Well RE2 isn't out since it still wins in USA and UK but yeah.

I am okay with all rallies let's let the world burn in the glory that is death.

ME2 doesn't seem to be getting affected at all, pretty much the same as where it was 3 hours ago iirc

On the one hand, Bloodborne interests me more than RE2make for now, but between PS4 exclusivity and me being somewhat of a RE fan that probably doesn't last. Otherwise can't say I like how I'm losing points in my bracket because I didn't foresee the possibility that Bloodborne would catch rallies, but that's on me. I would have picked Bloodborne to lose in Round 2 but that just didn't look right to me, so I figured maybe Awakening declined in strength due to it no longer being the new FE game in town and possibly mounting backlash from fans of the older FE games.

What's the main thing that differentiates Bloodborne from Dark Souls? Is it just new mechanics and a cosmic horror skin?

I looked at the comment sections. Seems like the Bloodborne subreddit approves of Bloodborne > RE2 than the Resident Evil subreddit approves of the opposite. Several people there appear quite split.

I think being a remake in Game of the Decade is making it really hard for RE to gain traction with the outside voters.

I don't think RE thread favors Bloodborne. It probably helps RE2. It's just not as lopsided as in the Bloodborne thread.

They really do believe the souls/bloodborne should be GoTD. Unlike many other games where people just like it.

Oh hey, RE2 randomly wins an update there, albeit narrowly.

Bloodborne is much more of an action game than Dark Souls, though less than Sekiro. You do not block or tank attacks like you can in Dark Souls, instead you dodge attacks, and attack enemies to recover your health. The movement is faster and there is less equipment, though there is more variety in the weapon types. It is a much more offensive game, but still definitely a Souls-type RPG as opposed to Sekiro which skirts the line.

Regarding the cosmic horror elements, that only appears in the second half of the game, while the first half is pure gothic horror - Werewolves are everywhere, Yharnam is clearly Victorian London, and the likes of Dracula and Frankenstein are clear inspirations. When it shifts to Lovecraft it is probably the best representation of Lovecraft in games since it actually implements it into the mechanics.

This is clearly Horizon's best time period based on its trends in the first 2 rounds (and Aloy in 2018), yet Horizon has stopped gaining percentage after 5:00 AM when the Bloodborne rally started taking off at the same time. Seems like this rally is helping ME2 more than Horizon.

These last two updates were mostly RE2 having significantly better updates.

And it calmed down again.

But I think it was enough for RE2 to keep the lead this hour as well.

Mass Effect 2 is currently projected to do slightly better against Borderlands 2 than direct extrapolation from 2015 has it doing (both games were in the same division back then too!), as in like 1%. 61% instead of 60%. So either nothing was fishy about MGS3/ME2, or ME2 has declined at a rate to make that match look legit while Borderlands 2 has stayed constant. The former seems more likely to me but who knows.

Also Fallout 4 looks REALLY bad, like it's projected to struggle to break 40% on Borderlands 2 and struggle to defeat Bloodstained altogether. I highly doubt it's that weak, especially since VVVVVV's results look pretty suspect too - projected to get only 21% on Horizon? Somehow I doubt Horizon is THAT strong.

Some comments in the Bloodborne thread are complaining that the attempt at a RE2 rally was posted in the general subreddit. So maybe they'll attempt other places too.

As long as the winner goes on to win the division my hopes are still alive.

the same creator of the main BB rally has a stealth rally in the Dark Souls subreddit

If someone attmpted in the RE2 Remake subreddit, there's a total of 36 people ready to look at it right now.

Bloodborne surely has the better potential cards to play.
