17 users fell off the Top 50. Isiah_Zombie, CassandraCain, Z1mZum, MetalmindStats, Jobi1, Ngamer64, scaryice, Nameless2000, SSBEVegeta3, Foxxiey, pbnj, triton6783, LusterSoldier, LinkMarioSamus, zoharemulator, Mazrim1215 and another user got at least one match wrong.

7 users got a match wrong but survived. aphorism, Aom, Masamune_6969, BobbyEvans, Polycosm, fortybelowsumme plus another scored 6 points but stay on the top 50.

Also I do enjoy making threads now and again! I wanted to do the Mario/Shadow poll one.

I know I predicted Starcraft 2 > ME3 wrong, but there's a lot of places you could go to see Witcher 3 beat ME3 real bad. W3 looks solid, but I wanna see the numbers it puts on against SMG2 before I revisit taking it against the likes of Dark Souls and Skyrim.

I don't see them doing it honestly. Or any AAA studio for that matter.
Also isn't ME3 widely disliked by the Mass Effect Fanbase as a whole(not andromeda level hate, but still).

The last 3 days have had about the same vote totals. And there have been rallies each day. It looks like they all brought in about the same number of votes each day.

It's possible that the rallies for Bloodborne, Octopath, and Shovel Knight have brought in some extra voters that managed to stick around for yesterday's matches, which might explain yesterday's vote totals being similar to the 2 days that had rallies. The rally attempts for yesterday's matches didn't seem to have much impact at all, so it would have to be some rallied voters sticking around to vote in later matches.

I think you are overestimating how many people turned around to be pro ME3 after the changes. I still don't like that game much, even ignoring the ending. It certainly isn't regarded even remotely as highly as ME2.

I haven't even PLAYED The Witcher 3 and I still voted for it.

People respect Mass Effect more than Halo here. It probably beats all the Halos after 3.

The Witcher is approaching lock level to beat Skyrim at this rate, but short of a 5000 vote rally, it ain't even sniffing 40% against BotW

When Witcher comes down to the last few matches agaisnt Persona/Skyrim or Souls and BOTW it will gain enough interest.

For the trendies -- Dark Souls 3 went down 1% from the freeze in round 1, and New Vegas went up by quite a bit.

One thing to keep in mind is that unlike awards voting where there are a series of games for consideration, the finals here are straight 1v1s, which is why I think its unlikely even socially active AAA devs like Atlus and CDProject Red will be able to outright rally due to PR constraints, especially against other AAA games like Skyrim, Zelda or the like.

Also, Dark Souls might pull the upset here, which would be great. Sekiro s***ting the bed had me worrying about backing the souls games too much, but it seems that game is an outlier to the rest of them

ME3, being as divisive as it is, wasn't going to be strong at all, at least not against strong competition.

Witcher's performance's still beastly, though.

Basically no big developer is going to publicly tweet "go vote for witcher over skyrim" on a fansite on any public platform.

There's only so far down ME3 can go. It was still a very solid game in a solid franchise. There's also only so far down StarCraft 2 can go

If ME3 can beat all of the first trilogy even now, Witcher is putting on a contest winning performance here. There's no way Reach doesn't get blown out by the first three games.

If you ask the souls fanbase it might be pretty evenly split. Before Souls was a genre MH was getting a push by YouTubers like Epicnamebro since 2012 days telling everyone to play MH because they're animation based combat and rpg. Then other community members would do the same throughout the years until MHW when it finally arrived on consoles for everyone to try.

True. For me Witcher is the better game, though only barely. Both deserving of being the top 5 imo.

In regards the Witcher vs Skyrim match, this ME3 match is important in helping us see that Witcher apparently sits VERY high on the WRPG pecking order on this site. Skyrim might be the perfect semifinal opponent for it

Based on the round 1 results for RDR and P4G, the assumption is that P4G should have done a little bit better with registered users. I'd say this could be bracket voting influence at work here as the stats suggest RDR was the bracket favorite. GTA won big with registered users too.

I also found an explanation for the last 2 days of matches having similar vote totals to the Bloodborne match day - an increase in registered user votes.

We had an average of 8999 registered user votes on the Bloodborne match day, but this increases to an average of 9327 for the Octopath/Shovel Knight match day and is only slightly lower at an average of 9300 for yesterday's matches. That would partially offset the drop off in anonymous user votes after the Bloodborne match day.

I still have no idea how Persona 4 Golden scored less than RDR in registered users given its the 2nd highest rated game on this website, makes no sense to me.

Yeah, Skyrim is f***ed. Dark Souls has a better chance of upsetting Witcher than Skyrim does. If Witcher is doing this to one (still pretty popular) Western game, the only true danger it faces before Zelda is a shot from Japan. All other Western games are going to crumble in front of it.

To that end, next round actually might be the most interesting for ol Geralt. If Mario crumbles as easily as these Western games are, then sweet tea n biscuits, it might actually have a shot at the unthinkable.

It was quite a while ago I guess but Valve did rally for Gordon Freeman over Mario and Link in GameSpot's contest. So it isn't unheard of.
