Second straight day where a rally is involved.

The rallies for Octopath and Shovel Knight probably canceled each other out for the most part. The splits at 8:00 AM EST (before any rallying started) have Octopath getting 50.21% with anonymous users while it finished with 50.48% overall with that same group. Both games combined for a total rally size of about 800 votes, which is less than half the size of the Bloodborne rally.

Other splits at 8:00 AM EST for the remaining 3 matches:

Smash Ultimate - 64.87% with registered users, 59.94% with anonymous users
Marvel's Spider-Man - 58.45% with registered users, 61.51% with anonymous users
Super Mario Odyssey - 70.50% with registered users, 69.63% with anonymous users

Based on this, we can say that Smash, Minecraft, and Mario Odyssey were the 3 games that were favored by the rallies. Minecraft got the biggest boost out of the games outside of the Octopath/Shovel Knight match. Mario Odyssey getting a rally boost makes sense, as it would be favored by the people who were rallied for Octopath due to both games being on Switch. Same reasoning applies to Smash Ultimate. Minecraft may have been the outright favorite over Spider-Man from the rallies as it gained more than 4% among anonymous users after the rallies started.

Also heres the thing about Death Stranding.

A lot of people couldn't care less about about certain games or just ignore them for being casual or multiplayer only or a certain genre like shooter etc..

Death Stranding was a game that had high % of votes on this site pre release like most wanted. It was a game a ton of people played due to the sheer amount of players on the PS4. The hype surrounding Kojima and it being a well marketed 1st party title. Death Stranding for sure had a higher % of players on this site than just about 80% of these indie games you see. Of course it does.

So why was it so weak? Its simple. The Game was absolute Trash. Had this game delivered it would have been God of War level if not higher. Seriously. It would have probably won this Division outright and been a number 1 or 2 seed.

Funny thing is that Shovel Knight is actually in Smash

I refuse to vote for Persona 4 Golden even though it is literally a top 3 game for me.

It doesn't belong in this bracket because it isn't even from this decade.

One can make the argument that Resident Evil 2 Remake and HeartGold/SoulSilver made the bracket as well but RE2 is a full blown remake that plays vastly different from the original. It is its own game, very different from the original Resident Evil style

HG/SS, I don't like it being in the bracket either, but that is actually a shot-to-shot remake and not just a port with additional content so it is somewhat excusable (even though it is also actually the same game).
P4G however just does not belong here despite my absolute love for that game.

And LOL at people who actually thought DOOM and God of War were remakes. Good god.

Also, BlackTurtle, Yuri account bet or whatever for Xenoblade's doubling of Overwatch has been hilarious and I doubt BT keeps his word.

On the note of rallies, since Shovel Knight is returning, do we think their potential rally favors GTA or Persona?

The God of War one was hilarious. I laughed hard at that.

GTA obviously. You'd have to be a very specific audience to favour Persona.

And we saw in this match...GTA steamrolled cuphead from the get go bar the first minute.

But i still think PErsona gets it done if it beats RDR. GTA is likely to get more antivoted than a game like RDR

I'm the opposite, I need Persona 4 to pull through to make the leaderboard because it's all downhill once division 6 start (I could go 1/4 in that division)

I survived a day on the leaderboard despite getting Shovel Knight wrong, but this one might be curtains.

Yah P4 is probs done, and so is my bracket that pretty much hinged on P4 doing well. There's no bouncing back from this.

I would take Cuphead over Shenmue in a heartbeat, personally.

I think as long as the match stays close, P4G can pull it out. Close matches tend to go to the thing we like the best.

I would have 100% taken Cuphead over Shenmue, but also I probably would have oracled Shenmue lower than the percentage it got so what do I know?

The Golden title hurts P4 really bad here like it should (despite P4G being obviously superior quality-wise to the original). I’m sure Persona 4 by itself would easily make the division finals if not outright win it.

Xenoblade in god-beast mode is an absolutely beautiful sight to behold. Such an amazing game with performances matching its quality.

There you go, Persona. Thread that needle of a 51%-52% victory while not actually dropping the match.

The idea isn't that people don't like Golden, but that it breaks the 'Game of the Decade' spirit as the original came out years earlier.

I think the effect will be minor but if the match ends up being a nailbiter, it could make the difference.

I have 0 doubts vanilla Persona 4 comfortably smacks RDR and GTAV.

When you talk about Golden..its specifically Golden

But when you see Shin Megami Tensei Persona 4....its sort of universal.

There is literally only one game I would vote for over Persona 4 which would be Final Fantasy VIII, my second favorite game. Despite Final Fantasy VII being my favorite game of all time, I'd still vote for P4 for it to do well against it.

My Top 4, which I consider to be the absolute greatest games of all time consists of FF7, FF8, P4 and Dark Souls. I'd hesitate to vote against any of these even if another game I love, which has no shot at beating those games, were its opponents. But then I'd vote for P4 and Dark Souls over FF7 since I know that they have no prayer of a shot against it. And while FF8 is likely stronger than those two, it is the only game I'd vote over those two because the margin is a lot smaller than FF7 if that all makes sense.

So to the point, I'd literally vote for P4 over 99.9% of things here but I absolutely refuse to vote for P4G (despite being arguably the best port of a game ever) or even take it over something meaningful in my bracket because it simply does not belong in this contest. I'd wager quite a few feel the same so that in itself is enough for P4G to lose quite a number of its strength.

I voted for FTL over P4G despite not giving a s*** about that game. Heck I'd vote for games like Journey and Edith Finch which I consider absolute trash over P4G.
