I'll be out of a couple points due to Awakening, but I gain it back if Horizon stays up. More importantly, there's still hope for RE2>ME2.

I need to pkay horizon zero dawn. Borderlands 1 is one of my top 10 of the decade but I hear great things about this one.

Horizon is fantastic but I would still rate Borderlands 2 over it, personally. The latter is in my top 5 of the decade, while the former falls somewhere in the top 20.

I really think Breath of the Wild might have sparked a lot of interested back into gaming in general, especially for the older audience around here.

Considering Horizon came out within a WEEK of BotW, being overshadowed by Zelda has been its life story.

Which is a shame because it's an amazing game

borderlands isnt that strong

2017 is a beast though.

I have Borderlands 2 in my bracket, but I cannot root for anything involving Randy Pitchford.

I would like to point out that Nier Automata was sent out to die by coming out at same time as Breath of the Wild and Horizon and still managed to become a smash success beyond any expectations.

Quality sells.

Yeah, there's more chances that people mix up DOOM with Doom Eternal than the original.

At least that's happened to me!

Just realized... I haven't played much, but today's matches might have my top three games of the gen in Zelda, Bloodborne, and RE2.

2012 and 2016 were the two weakest years of the decade.

Yeah and it was made by a studio with a much bigger name and a huge marketing push

Nier Automata was primarily marketed through word-of-mouth of rabid Nier fanboys and 2B hentai

Seriously I wanna vote for DooM just because of the disservice that match pic does to The Better Redfield.

I'm sure I'm going to get accused of saying this 'only in hindsight', but I've BEEN saying ME2 was gonna wreck Fallout for weeks.

After the entirety of R1, 70 on VVVVVVV was actually a pretty bad result, and ME2 is gonna be WAY higher on the WRPG pecking order. Bethesda has had a hard fall from grace and FO4 was the inciting incident.

Also Bloodborne is going to look really impressive by the end of this match. This is easily its worst time against Awakening.

We talk about how your strength in these contests really depends on how close your release was to 1998, and it really is true to a certain extent.

For this contest, it may just be how close you are to 2017, especially Breath of the Wild and the Switch's release date. Even the stuff you wouldn't expect to benefit like Horizon or Automata really seems to be.

I think every one of these games outperformed expectations so far. Only Persona 5 did "as expected" and only the turbofodder like Edith Finch and Splatoon 2 did worse.

Former second place Darkmoonchild08, Bigtoe, Dark_Koopatrol, Biscuit__, Arvisk, goatfishman, i-rock-socks, jayman12311, Hardus101, franmars, mariomaster0, SSBEVegeta3, Keltiq, Foxxiey, 519, WhiteLens, Atreides27, Tails_64, pbnj, cdog21, the_NGW, VioletMassacre, Rowdy54, gamesufferer, JesusHerself, Reflex-Arc, KingLionel, Johntron, maxamill, StarPhlox and Sobou got at least one match wrong.

4 people took a 2 point hit but survived. Former third place Bossman_Coolguy, AughtforNaught, Paratroopa1 and MuchiMuchiPork only got 6 points but hang on.

Board8_BOP is on the Top 50 at 27th place. All I had to do was turn my brain off and I would be doing 5 points better right now.

I remember there being talk of 1998 vs. 2017 as a bonus match, as even then we knew BotW, Odyssey, and Persona 5 were going to be huge deals. We wouldn't have predicted the depth that HZD and Automata would have added too.

I don't know. 2017's strong, but 2001, etc can definitely match it.

RE2 vs. Bloodborne is shaping up to be the slugfest I thought it would be. Not sure who to call the favorite at this point.
