To figure out a character's extrapolated percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA

Fun with current X-Stats:

Outer Worlds gets 53.70% on Life is Strange and 47.38% on Halo: Reach

Edith Finch gets 34.33% on Berseria and 25.53% on Hollow Knight

So Cloud's rival is now Zelda and FF7 now competes with BotW.

Well, before Remake.

I'm not expecting the remake to do much, at least based on the reception it seems to be getting.

This FFXV match also really makes me wonder about Skyward Sword's merits. I mean I know we've been wondering for a while, but seeing a game with the words 'Final Fantasy' in the name struggling so much makes me think how much the Zelda name would have carried SS when it's damn near the consensus worst 3D Zelda.

LoZ:SS may be the weakest Zelda game, but in 2011 it still beat Batman: Arkham City and Portal 2 and those two games are still favored to reach the third round. We see LoZ:LBW still looking like a game with legitimate strength too, so...barring abnormal contest draws, I think LoZ:SS would have been fine.

It would have been 'fine' in the sense that it could win a match in this bracket, but that's more because this bracket is weak. ALBW would be much stronger.

If we're talking mainline Zelda, Zelda 2 is by far the weakest

As someone currently playing through DQ11 for the first time it's an amazing game and deserves the deep contest run its enjoying.

Nah, it was across a few updates, but Hollow Knight managed to cut the lead from 184 to 118.

The last few pages of the stats topic have been the loneliest I've seen in a while. Once it became clear that FF15 was probably going to win, everyone else checked out and it's just Leon sitting alone in a room cheering for his game that no one else will

is ff15 gonna win? If it does, star of Round 2??? lolz

I mean, this is really just who gets destroyed by BotW in Round 3.

Getting to round 2 feels a lot less "special" when the match pics are all the same as last time.

and most of round 1 is turbo fodder to begin with. This right here feels like the proper start to the contest.

Incredibly significant as there is every reason for Life is Strange to have gotten stronger. BotW could be our number one game.

not a chance. Id take CT to beat BOTW with these low votals. oot would SFF it. Weve already had best zelda polls where oot had to get sffd badly for Lttp to win. Botw did ok though. Just not anywhere near to the level of oot

I am honestly quite shocked at how poorly Final Fantasy XV is doing. Usually when these tournaments happen, every Final Fantasy game gets a huge rally, simply because it is Final Fantasy. Even divise games in the franchise like 12 and 13 are doing much better than 15 now struggling to beat an indie game.

I am honestly quite shocked at how poorly Final Fantasy XV is doing. Usually when these tournaments happen, every Final Fantasy game gets a huge rally, simply because it is Final Fantasy. Even divise games in the franchise like 12 and 13 are doing much better than 15 now struggling to beat an indie game.

Final Fantasy hasn't had a really good showing in a contest in over a decade.

There are still people that believe that FF always wins? Damn. Plus what rally? Nobody cares for this site for at least 5 years now.

Haha, it seems I just have nostalgic memories of Final Fantasy games doing good then.

well Cloud still ended up 2nd in the last character battle despite almost no one believing he would have retained his number 2 status after all this time

This was absolutely fantastic. Cloud is likely helped by being from Smash. When it had become clear Nintendo had completely taken over and not Zelda and FF, suddenly Cloud had the board support, got his 16 year long awaiten revenge on Mario's upset when times had changed so much that Cloud winning was the upset, beat Zelda too and cracked 40% on Link. The hero.

Cloud finished 2nd despite Final Fantasy, and thanks to the massive benefit of a second-chance bracket where more or less nobody cared, and fell to the point where he barely outdid Zelda in a direct match against Link. That's only a victory because 2013 was so much worse for him.

Put Cloud in an actual bracket (in 2018) and he's finishing 5th at best.

But FF 7 remake just got out. This has to boost FF7 power right?

The really shocking thing about 2018 is that there seems to be no ceiling on Link that can be observed. Like if Breath of the Wild 2 is another major success, he could end up doubling the next strongest character, who could just be Zelda anyway. Maybe Ganon gets more focus this time around, and he can start beating the lower tier Noble 9ers like Snake and Sonic with little trouble.

The thing with Breath of the Wild is that chart that got posted a few days ago.

In terms of sales numbers, Breath of the Wild more than doubled any other Zelda game, and if Breath of the Wild 2 does anywhere close to that, then yeah, all of a sudden Link/Zelda/Ganondorf have Mario-level sales, something they've never really had.

Eh, FFVI and FFVII both did good in 2015!

Tifa was arguably the star of 2018 outside of Zelda (and she'll be even stronger after FFVIIR!).

It's like what star players say about winning on the road. The most satisfying feeling is the opposing fans going completely silent.

FFVIIR is the first FF in a long time that is actually liked by most people. It should at least keep Cloud/Tifa in the upper echelon of the characters contests..I am really interested to see how it would do in a games contest as well, it should be stronger than any of the 'weak' FF main games like FF12, FF13 and FF15.

To be fair, the reason I believed in Cloud last contest, despite FF deboosting in general, was that he would be the only FF character to retain its strength thanks to Smash exposure.
