I was going to and the last one with “Play Celeste and Rayman Legends” but of course Ulti got the double post in there. Ah well.

I think people are seriously underestimating Ys VIII.

Like, I'm still confident in Sonic beating Meat Boy next round. Not that any of those 3 games are particularly strong, but Ys VIII blew under everyone's radar despite being highly critically-acclaimed.

IIRC, Sonic Mania and RE7 underperformed in their respective GOTY polls, but that was 2017 being a juggernaut. I wouldn't know who to take between Sonic Mania/RE7, honestly.

The original Sonic Mania wasn't in any GotY poll. Sonic Mania Plus was basically DLC.

This is a strange time for Rayman to finally make a move. I expected this to happen earlier and not now.

Ah, the people who quit gaming mid-decade but remembered GameFAQs enough to check back on this site during quarantine have arrived after all.

Hmmmm might be over unless we can pull support from somewhere. A shame that a gem like Celeste may end up falling to the bootleg equivilant of New Super Mario Bros 2 here.

I like the those new Rayman games please don't take that too seriously.

Yeah, but it's a wierd to for Rayman to pull ahead.

But that wierdness could very well continue in the opposite direction.

I wish I would've made a compilation of all those posts saying that Celeste would win this easily and even go for the doubling.

Rayman is currently 9 votes below his highest lead of 79.

Good to see R1 ending with a fun 50-50 match.

It seems that Celeste is having trouble trying to make any sort of cuts like Rayman did during the night and is just stalling at best. Rayman is getting the more impactful updates (getting more 60-70% results), and has essentially won the day vote if it prevents Celeste from making multiple cuts in a row. There's still a possible Tifa-esque rally for either game, so I won't say it's quite over yet.

Either way, I still say Celeste has not lived up to expectations, though does not get the Turd of the Round to me.

Who officially awards the Star and Turd of the Round awards here? I might claim the honor myself if we have no one.

There's no "official" person. Who even started that tradition? I want to say it was Slowflake, but I can't remember exactly.

There's no official person, never has been, never will be. I do think it was Slowflake who started the Star/Turd tradition but I'm not going to pore through the archives to confirm.

This is rather obvious but you can't really assign star/turd awards until much later

Let's say Ori beats FE3H. Inquisition doesn't look so bad then!

Nobody has patented Stars and Turds, so you're free to do what you want.

That being said, I will not listen to anyone that puts Celeste over Dragon Age: Inquisition as a turd.

Canada/United States haven't changed too much in their support for Celeste. Rayman needs to hope things don't drop off too much as Europe begins to go to sleep towards the end of the match.

I was banking on NA waking up to turn this back towards Celeste. The final trump card now seems to be Europe going to bed for the final few hours.

Didn't think that would be a close race at all to be honest. I think the crowd that hates indie games might be swinging this in Rayman's favor more than actual Rayman fans.

Celeste has trouble keeping up with its opponent atm, as the gap between the two nears 100 votes. I severely underestimated Rayman's chances.

The earlier start times mean that the USA/Canada have less votes to give as Europe goes to bed.

I think it's more a good chunk of people have played neither game but are forced to vote by SBAllen's system and so they generally go for the entity they've heard of, which is Rayman.

We're down to under 600 votes/hour. The first 6 hours of the poll had over 1000 votes/hour. Even the dead of night had higher votals than right now. It seems most of North America votes early in the poll nowadays with the earlier start time.
