I'm
thrilled for Ori and am glad to predict it, but also I'm thinking if
DA:O's performance here reflects poorly on SSB4 and perhaps SSBU. We'll
see -- I'll wait for other pieces to fall into place. And I'm gonna gamble and say Stick of Truth > Splatoon 2. SFF is hiding things and I hate to bet against Nintendo, but I don't know what signs we have that Splatoon caught on here. South Park won awards and did alright here. I ran with Xenoblade taking this division but this doesn't fill me with hope for my bracket. Good hell. I adore Three Houses. Picking Xenoblade at the last possible second to win this division killed me. But I’m glad I did it. I will also never forgive myself for not sticking with my guns (ha) and sticking with DOOM to win its division. I would have won the guru with those two results specifically. love how Fire Emblem insists on embarrassing me for propping it up so
much precontest. It hasn't looked amazing in its two matches, meanwhile I
took Awakening to Round 3 and Three Houses to the Divison Finals. I see that South Park PC poll floating around, but are you guys looking at the games in it?  Hearthstone was at the bottom of the x-stats in 2015 and still did 'well' in this poll. I guess finishing ahead of Dark Souls and Diablo is ok-ish, but ehh... If you're only on

Individual
system GotY polls can be really weird so they are unreliable. The same
game can have wildly different results on different system. I think this

Incidentally, Ori came out on Switch last year. That probably helped a lot. All the stars in the sky are waiting for you. |

think Ori is CVF (Coronavirus Factor) at play, the same as the Doom
overperformance. Recent sequel, everyone's stuck inside playing video
games. Resident Evil 2 might see a boost since 3 is about to come out,

what genre the game is and what system(s) it debuted on. If

Ori
was a big deal in the Metroidvania field before Ori 2 released. That
first escape level after learning bash is a level of the decade-caliber

Sekiro was everywhere in the media and even caused controversy due to the whole "Journalists demanding easy mode" thing. it also won game of the year in the game awards among some others, and was running for it everywhere else. it's also published by activision (one of the biggest companies in gaming) and developed by from software (one of the most critically acclaimed companies in gaming) anyone who keeps up even to a very minimal extent with the industry would know of it (not necessarily care about it, but know). i'm not saying theres anything wrong with not keeping up mind you, but i do believe many people in here are folks who used to play a lot in the past but have since largely moved on from keeping up with gaming in general. |
