So I see that Rocket League seems to be the favorite against DragonBall FigterZ in the Oracle. That surprises me a little.

What do people here think for that match? What are the Guru picks? Are the Guru stats up anywhere?

I feel like Rocket League will win that. DB FighterZ, despite its quality, is still a pretty niche anime fighting game. Against a lesser known opponent I would have taken it in a heartbeat, but Rocket League is probably one of the most likely games to beat it on the apathy vote scale.

That said, I'm not confident at all

Draven's matches weren't more exciting in the least. If anything, it was the darkest time for GameFAQs since there were only trolls laughing at our incapability to do a thing.

Pretty much all of this.

It's still a coin-flip.

I mean, every Undertale match went exactly the same way

the opponent jumped out early, gave people false hope that THIS WOULD FINALLY BE THE TIME UNDERTALE LOST, and then the rally kicked it into overdrive when it had to

Draven/Link and Draven/Snake had way more interesting plotlines than that

heck even the sheer dominance of Draven/X/Ryu was more interesting

Is DBFZ weaker or stronger than Tekken 7 and MK11? Fighting games aren't exactly off to a strong start this contest even if it isn't entirely their fault.

I'd wager weaker. I don't expect Dragon Ball to get anime franchise votes.

Yeah, outside of Undertale/Melee, Undertale's run was boring and predictable. Maybe you could argue that there was a sense of a will they/won't they against Fallout 3, but as soon as it started it was over.

this is using March 2020 hindsight. Any one of the rallies could have failed, including the first one. Try going back to 2015 thinking.

i dont think fighterZ is that niche. it sold over 5 million copies thus far...and the DLC trailers still get millions of views..thats almost unheard of for character announcement trailers (outside of smash of course)

it might be the most popular competitive fighting game that exists right now outside of smash.

not that any of that will help it here

I'm gonna guess those two cuts for Undertale were the SND rally. Now it's over.

Oh, it's popular, just not here. MK11 is one of the best selling games of 2019!

100% agree that getting invaded was more interesting the first time. By the time of Undertale's run, we had seen this movie before and we knew how it would end.

God, Draven really was the worst thing to happen to these contests. Just pure toxicity and hostility. To the point where it basically poisoned the board against a totally different game! At least Undertale was out of genuine love for the game.

Losing to Melee would have been the best thing for Undertale and not just on GameFAQs. Then Melee is the villain, and that fanbase is not well seen already, while Undertale keeps its reputation.

oh Draven and Undertale rallies were both garbage

but the Draven ones actually had some drama worth remembering

heck even the Mewtwo match had that infamous moment where the rally temporarily got taken down because they thought Allen told them it was against the rules

The combination of Draven, Undertale and Melee almost killed gamefaqs contests themselves, imo.

So yeah people have the right to be vengeful.

Sorry but anyone who thinks DBFighter Z isn't going to get DBZ support is kidding themselves.

Draven almost ended contests. The board got invaded by an exceptional amount of trolls and people here redirected their bitterness towards Allen for some reason. We're honestly lucky we still get contests after that debacle.

Undertale robbed of us some good matches, and there were some trolls coming in (at a much smaller amount), but that's about it. Draven was absolutely the most miserable time in this board's history.

On the plus side, I learned a bunch of new ways to say butthurt.

Beat Udnertale then lose to OoT

What a way to bow out. SAve the contest but Bow out to the King

I said the contest was over at the time of Undertale/ME3 and never doubted Undertale would ever lose regardless of how much it was losing by in future matches

also those last two updates were big for Octopath

starting to feel like this one might be over

That division is ending as Goku vs Batman and I won't hear otherwise

Not sure about Allen but I feel like it did a number on contest hype. The Undertale vs Melee day felt like a funeral. It was like there was no point to contests anymore.

The next one was Best Year in Gaming and it felt like it was the only contest we were still allowed to have.

Which is why I love CBX. It saved contests imo.

Maybe this is just because I have a confrontational personality, but I actually preferred the way the Draven fans acted to the Undertale fans. Draven supporters were more sincere. It was really annoying reading the constant flood of "Undertale is actually a really great game, guys, just give it a chance..." threads. They had essentially invaded the site and then had the gall to ask people to approach them and their game with good will.

If Melee beat Undertale it beat OoT. The rally wouldn’t just vanish.

The worst trolling during Undertale was from ExTha. B8 had some bad actors then, I have to say. And hey, I’d take the Undertale fandom over League and Melee any day!

On the other hand, the Draven trolling was so bad I’m amazed it happened. It was really nasty.

Hey, I played the game *before* the contest and I think it's pretty good! I'd hesitate to say great - most of the characters are two dimensional and I don't get much out of its meta-fictional commentary, but the music and the combat design are solid, and having characters comment on your save-scumming is a cute idea for a game like that. I am buttdevastated about the 2015 contest though. I get buttdevastated when things I find fun become unfun.

That sounds like you're mixing them up. Undertale fans' reasoning was sincere; Draven wasn't (unless you mean sincerely trolling for the sake of salt and rage).
