In the 3-way poll, Sekiro was pretty bad with the board vote but does best in the morning. RE2 does best at night, which is to be expected based on past games in the series. FE does poorly at night, similar to most Nintendo games. FE also went exactly 50/50 with RE2 during the ASV.

For the 1v1 poll, FE manages to outright win the board vote over RE2. It even won the SNV too.

Both of these polls were on the weekend, so the trends were expected to be similar. Regardless, there were some differences in trends between both polls. Such as FE doing worse with the ASV in the 1v1 poll, which was almost as bad as its night vote. In the 3-way poll, FE also had a poor morning vote, but it had a better morning vote in the 1v1 poll instead.

Cant argue with system of the year. Switch winning last year was a joke. But this year it’s clear winner

ps4 was a joke and while I love Xbox it had very few exclusives.

sure if you think repetitive world of light mode is great. It was fun for about 6 or so hours. Got old and boring fast

i Jean since they added home run the single player is better but they need to add target tests.

and I agree about smash 4. But everyone knows that is bad.

No - bar a rally for of some kind

SSBU is its closest competition in my book...but when we saw LoZ:BotW beats P5 and SMO worse than SSBU beats GoW, that's tough to bet against. Also, LoZ:MM upset SSBB in the last GotD-contest.

Skyrim could benefit from respect points in this contest, but I'm wondering if it's more of a top-five caliber game for this contest than an actual contender for #1.

The Witcher III is probably scarier than the rest of the non-BotW heavy hitters put together simply because I could see its fans bothering to rally it to victory.

Just realized yesterday's poll was the only "Best of 2020" poll that reached 10k+ votes, and roughly 1,000 votes ahead of the Semifinal vote.

I would've figured the votals would be the same or lower on both days, but people become hyped with final matches, it seems.

The 3-way poll was on a Saturday, and I've documented on numerous occasions that Saturday produces the lowest average vote totals during the week. Saturday vote totals are around 10% worse than any other day of the week. Monday-Thursday produces the highest average vote totals, followed by Friday/Sunday next (about even for both days), and Saturday last.

FFVII is never beating OoT again, yes.

BotW is quite possibly the third strongest Zelda now.

BOTW annihilates everything other than Ocarina or Past.

I don’t think the people saying otherwise understand how absolutely absurdly popular that game is.

MM beating BotW is no sure thing right now. That's why a bonus match would help prove which one is actually stronger.

MM's strength is vastly overrated dude.

BOTW would easily beat it. like an easy 55-45 or 54-46.

MM should have lost to FFX. LEts be real here. I mean i'm glad it didnt because it would have meant that garbage Brawl winning GOTD but still. FFX got robbed

it probably will do. LttP only shows up when its a multipoll when the 3D zelda fanbase is split open with several strong games

But 1 v1 yeah BOTW could and would beat it now.

On any normal website BotW clobbers Majora, sure, but this is a website where the userbase is full of nostalgic 30+ year olds who thinks the glory days of gaming are long past.

BotW vs Windwaker is probably the more interesting matchup at this point.

BOTW could be my fav game this gen. It restored my faith in Zelda games after that turdfest that was SS and the disappointing TP.

Thats the point. Nostalgia only works so far.

BOTW is so good it can counter Nostaglia. Mainly because its so Different compared to other Zelda games

Why is Galaxy and most likely Odyssey stronger than Sunshine? shouldn't Sunshine have nostaglia power? Hell Galaxy 2 i d take over Sunshine.

You don't have nostalgia if people don't like you that much to start with, hence Sunshine has nothing.

Sushine does ok in multi polls. IT came 4th slightly below galaxy 1 But it wasn't even nominated for 2015 BGE

Right, which is why I wouldn't for example take the original Legend of Zelda (which is mostly just respected-- not a ton of huge fans really), Link's Awakening (just not enough playership-- kind of a cult favorite really), or Adventures of Link (heh) over BotW despite them all being older.

Majora's Mask has its fair share of lingering love, though.

I'd take BotW over Majora's Mask.

GOTD1 low-key had a lot of bad results

It also gave us MGS2/SotC. Definitely in my personal top 5 contest matches.

Shadow of the Colossus getting past Round 1 was a travesty already.

How long are nomination periods usually up? I'm getting pretty hyped for this contest, but I have basically no time to be here until after the 24th. Might just end up nominating the guru choice and 9 favorite games of the decade without looking at what the board wants to get in.

no the real travesty is it not winning outright.

im glad it did so well because that game is a f***ing masterpiece. And it was a technical side show. The remake isn’t going to be eligible but I’d vote for that as well.
