Nothing like playing a game in its original form.

So how strong would Pikachu be in a contest match right now?

The same. Pikachu doesn’t seem to be getting the focus of promotion this generation. Even LGPE seemed to be more about trying to get Eevee to replace the OG Starters. So Pikachu might be a bit stronger thanks to brand refresh, but it wouldn’t be worth more than maybe a 1 or 2% increase in the results he got last contest against non-Noble Niners.

The better question is just how much Charizard will tank after not just the “FRAUD EXPOSED” stuff of last contest, but with how obnoxiously hard he’s getting pushed in this gen.

I didn't knew that once this site was on TOP 100 of the Internets. Times change. And to be fair I am still suprised that this site is still going on.

So I feel like I completely forgot what happened in recent contests? How many contests have we had since BGE3? That was the last one that I can remember, probably because it was the last one I felt excitement in.

As for rallies, Starcraft was tremendous fun. Undertale was fun too, but would have been much better if this site had vote totals along the lines of what it used to. If this site was bringing in 130k votes per day instead of 50k, some of the non-Undertale games might have actually had a chance and it would have felt competitive, rather than like watching the Patriots beat up on the Browns.

And now of course we don't get close to 50k votes per day anymore as we did in BGE3. I do remember out votals falling way below that.

I guess what I'm saying is that there is no good way to deal with rallies other than finding a way to increase our natural votals again.

@red_sox_777 Well to tell the truth few care for the contests anymore. This is what I like rallies myself, because they spice things up.

This site was always leftist. Just look at some of these past polls:

Both of those polls took place during the height of our greatest vote totals (2006-2010) and the 2 liberal options outperformed the 2 conservative options. Though keep in mind that "Moderate" was still the most popular option in both polls.

Typically, people end up becoming more conservative as they get older. It would be interesting to see if this trend also applies to this site's users, as our average age continues to increase. Unless of course our voting pool somehow dries up completely before that can happen or the PotD feature has been discontinued. Cause it's going to take at least 20 years before we see any kind of notable shift in the political spectrum of the site's users, if it even happens.

oh wow we have a contest planned for early 2020? and it's GOTD? awesome! I can't believe I missed that news, should frequent this board more often from now.

I don't think GotD2 has ever been confirmed. It's just been assumed because of the timing of the contest.

oh well, a conest is still a contest. Although I hope it's GOTD2 because the 1st one was really fun.

ZeldaUniverse's Facebook page is running polls for "Zelda game of the decade". Most of them are ports/remakes (and some of them aren't even Zelda games, like Smash... or Mario Kart 8[?] Anyway...); there are some interesting results right now and incoming.

If Majora didn't exist I would probably agree.

Twilight Princess is great, not sure how Nintendo managed to drop the ball sonhrd with Skyward Sword but it is what it is.

I remember as of the aftermath of the 2015 contest people seemed to think Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were pretty close on gamefaqs and WW was actually placed just ahead in the x-stats. Do we think that's how it would still go?

I might not understand TP's popularity, but I'm not betting against it.

If OoT actually DID face against Tri Force Heroes on this site, would our percentages be close to that?

Like it would be a sight to see if OoT broke 99%, but I think the nature of GameFAQs won't allow that to happen.

I suspect Tri Force Heroes would score a minimum of 5-10% from OoT antivotes alone.

Yes, I for one would take WW v TP to be a 50-50 match, and I would take the two games to score very similar percentages against most opponents.

Also Leon, I think you missed that Link's Awakening won that match over BotW. >_>

Hmm... I don't think so. OoT had a crushing 95% against Hearthstone, and unlike the latter, Tri Force Heroes wasn't well received and doesn't have any kind of relevancy or following.

I don't know what its closest competition is other than Smash Ultimate

fittingly enough we could have two separate Game of the Decade contests where the final is Zelda vs. Smash

Assuming this site is still here in 2030 (and we all didn't die off by some apocalyptic thing), look forward to Breath of the Wild 2 vs. Final Fantasy VII Remake as the GotD3 Final.

I have a lot of respect for Skyrim's strength. I would strongly consider picking it over SSBU. However, BotW is just on another level. It's crazy how much it boosted Zelda in the previous character battle and Link is now so strong it's difficult to measure just how strong he is.

OoT 3D vs. MM 3D. Massive increase in votals this time around.

Considering how poorly implemented (as I've been told) MM's remake was, I'm not sure how accurate this results are.

Skyward Sword had some of the best dungeons in Zelda history, and I maintain that some of the motion controls worked well enough to enhance the experience. Unfortunately, the game was bogged down with a lot of crap. Some of the highest highs and lowest lows of any Zelda game, imo.

Dont forget massive amounts of handholding

That's one of its major flaws.

1. Handholding
2. Questionable pacing/filler
3. Overused motion controls (I remember swimming and bomb rolling as particular annoying and unnecessary)
