@_Dog_ But when you like a video game series you continue to play the newer games right? I mean it is your hobby right? If you have absolutely no time then yeah I get it but I am sure that Advokaiser didn't meant that.

I see a lot of people complaining that the series has gotten stale and that's a fair complaint.

What is weird is when they say the new gens are worse than the first one in a gameplay or design sense. Feels like some nostalgia goggles.

It 100% is. RBY is a broken mess gameplay-wise.

Aside from the marketing, Pokemon's biggest strength has always been in providing an expansive yet highly accessible RPG adventure on portable systems to people who don't have much experience with that type of game. Once you're already introduced new games aren't gonna be as special and the battle mechanics and such were never the real draw for the masses so yeah.

Pokemon RBY aren't buggy messes anymore than SMB1 is a buggy mess compared to NSMB. But you don't see the Mario fan base turning on it's legacy either.

It's still interesting to see the 2010's being on par with the 2000's. It might make debatable matches like BotW vs. WW/TP, SMO vs. SMG, and P5 vs. P4 more interesting.

Over the history of that poll, the 2010s have gotten stronger, but all of that it is coming at the expense of the 2000s while the 1990s has maintained its strength. The 2000s getting weaker at the expense of the 2010s shouldn't be taken as evidence that the 2010s would be on par with the 2000s since voters of the 2000s seem more likely to continue playing modern games than those who vote for the 1990s.

My guess is that the 2010s would be only slightly weaker than the 2000s.

In short, no, and it's not even that close.

I know I'm a bit late to the topic, but regarding Pokemon new games vs old games. I love all of them, but I don't think it's weird to prefer the older games. Sun and Moon are obvious if you liked the tradition system more, but if you don't care for many of the newer features, then it makes sense. The newer games has a lot more childish/overfriendly cutscenes and very long tutorial stuff where I have friends that love and play Pokemon still that heavily preferred rivals to be douches and not have to sit through those things.

If you think stuff like playing woth your Pokemon, dressing up, megas, z-moves, or even older stuff natures and abilities were good additions, then yeah, the older games will be better to you. I get that nostalgia goggles are annoying, but I never understood why people are completely unable to see how maybe not all people like the newer features.

Like, I personally hated the Rotom Dex in every aspect aside from a few practical features that could have easily been given to the player some other way. You couldn't turn it off and it worked horribly. Give me a game without that s*** thanks.

So far, Pokemon probably peaked at gen 4-5 for me. I think special defense, abilities, physical/special split in attacks, infinite TMs, vast post game and probably more things I'm forgetting all made the games better. Megas, Z-moves (outside of competitive play), Island Challenges, affection, everything related to fashion, larger focus on friendship, Rotem Dex, and probably more things I'm forgetting did not and made no difference to me at best.

The games are similar, but let's not act like they necessarily only got better with more features.

Well, it's easier for me to handle extreme cold compared to extreme hot. Another problem is that the humidity in my area is generally on the high side during the summer, so even a moderate warm temperature (around 80) feels hot due to the relatively high humidity. The humidity in my area rarely goes below 50% during the summer. At least in the winter, humidity means jack s*** because it's still cold anyways.

I'd still bet on 1 contest every 1.5 years until proven otherwise. Meaning no contest this year.

I think this is the first poll where I can say I have play both the original and the remake.

Ethan Winters is so weak. Jack Baker or Emeline would be a better RE7 rep.

I'm curious to see how the game would hold up against the others, though. I'm sure it'd beat 6 and 0, but I'm not sure about the others.
