There is a trick I can use involving the contest voting page to find out which poll IDs have been inserted into the database and all I can find is a poll ID for 7444 (tomorrow's regular poll). As tomorrow will be a Friday, Allen is expected to input at least 3 regular polls into the database for Saturday/Sunday/Monday. If I can't find more than 3 poll IDs inserted into the database before the end of today's match, then there won't be any bonus matches. Why do people even bother when half the time the Zelda franchise wins and the other half the Final Fantasy franchise wins? Really should exclude those two to make the contests varied. You could say maybe something was off about her match with Snake (Smash SFF or whatever), but I think it’s clear she’s at least a couple points stronger than Mario indirectly. Cloud barely beat Mario. I don’t think he’d beat Samus. Not this contest anyway. Next contest it could change, though I’d expect the advantage to move in her favor if anything. |

Yeah
I think things were set up perfectly for Cloud, avoiding Samus and
facing Zelda after she was beaten by Link and Mario after the
Mario/Samus match. Not sure if either of Cloud's wins would have
flipped if we had the matches in a different order, but I seriously
doubt Cloud could have taken Samus at any point in the contest. That said, Samus loses to 2 characters (Link and Mario), and maybe Zelda. Call it 2.5 characters. Cloud loses to 2 characters (Link and Samus). And Cloud actually won the loser's bracket as well, so I'm fine with calling Cloud our #2. To go with a theme others have mentioned, the early voters are “smarks” who vote based on the kayfabe contest narrative. L-Block was an example of the half the site buying into the kayfabe and creating a babyface superstar, though he didn’t last long. A rapid rise and rapid fall, like the Ultimate Warrior. U-L-timate Warblocker? Hmmm. This is fun! Link would be Hulk Hogan of course, no selling eveybody and refusing to job. And going from babyface to heel but remaining the top guy. With a swerve face turn against Draven, like Hogan being face in the eyes of the fans at Wrestlemania 18. But still losing. |

If
Tifa is legitimately stronger than Sephiroth, then Samus had a stronger
round 1 of the Legends Bracket than Mario did. And since that's the
only round where you can compare them and they seemed pretty even
directly, saying Samus is stronger indirectly makes a lot of sense. Advokaiser made an above average bracket, I'd say. |

Hypothetical mini-contest: Characters that have never appeared in a CB before. Do we have enough untapped midcarders to make this actually interesting? Field could be wide open, although it seems like Pokemon could run wild and this could just turn into a big proxy war for the other franchises. congrats to BKSheikah the BYIG guru |

Only problem with that is I don't buy for a second that Tifa beat Seph. I trust Tifa/Samus as most of the weirdness this contest has been hentai rallies and the general SJWFF we saw in a few matches. If you trust Tifa/Samus and Tifa/Seph, that puts Ryu at a really really weak level which makes zero sense. The only explanation that makes sense across the board is the following: - Sephiroth is around Mega Man/Crono level - Zelda is also naturally around that level and benefitted greatly from her bandwagon and hentai rallies - Samus/Mario 1 is an accurate representation of Samus - Snake is the only real outlier here as Snake/Samus and Snake/Sonic can't both be accurate and still make sense in the grand scheme of things BKSheikah, my hat is off to you.
