I know no one's paying attention to this match but holy crap Cloud crushed Crono overnight, so it's looking like he's actually going to noticeably improve on their first match when it looked like Crono was going to be the one to do better early on.

There are more ways to look at it. Mario's lead was bigger at this point of the match last time than in the end. Samus won the last 9 hours, though she lost the last 10.

I don't think we can make much of it though.

Whoa okay, biggest lead since the change now. Let's see what Samus has to say about that.

Did Cloud not crush Crono overnight last time? That seems like one of the mos obvious Europe beatdowns.

Not like that. Cloud averaged 59% overnight last time and 62% this time.

Maybe Cloud gets a bit less antivotes after getting destroyed by Link?

This was always the realistic end points.

He's behind Cloud and the Nintendo characters. That's it. It is an absolute success by Crono. Good f***ing show.

Unlike with BT however, I don't know who here lacks enough of a soul to cheat for f***ing lame Mario. So I can't call anyone out to stop it.

Finally fell off the leaderboard...It was my best run ever though!

Came back from work, checked the results. This is what I have to say.

1st match=I think I have seen this match before, but I am not sure?
2nd match=Man this match is so close. But FREAKING Mario beats everyone. Except Zelda. Or Sephiroth when was at his strongest. Or Crono where he cheats votes.

It’s a real shame all the intelligent people who correctly picked Snake’s early downfall aren’t going to be redeemed due to Zelda beating Mario. That flipped the entire bracket. Samus would have won her next two matches had it not been for Supreme Overlord Zelda. Now all the fools who picked Snake are rooting for Mario to win in order to offset the points lost.

I mean when both Mario and Snake were beaten by the same person, I don't think it's really fair to call one side foolish and the others not.

Because of the weirdness of Samus/Mario matches we don't even know if Mario beats Snake or not. I would imagine that he does but we can't say for certain

I’ve loved Mario since 1988.

I'm in the Top 10 but I don't think I finish there.

I have both matches correct today and I have Link winning it all but I have Mario > Cloud in the next round.

People want Mario because it will salvage their pathetic brackets, since they picked Snake to win this match.

I think Mario very likely wins but theres certainly a small question mark rather than it being a dead certainty

I’m bitter because I would have won the entire thing if Mario beat Zelda. Because Samus would have bested Zelda, and Cloud. Before losing to Mario again.

But WHY?

I love ya man, so this disappoints the f*** out of me.

I get loving his series and his games.
Some of my best times ever have been controlling the Italian Plumber, he stars in 4/5 of my top 10 games literally ever....

But that doesn't have to do with him. His platformers could be literally anyone and be just as good, and his RPG's are carried by his supporting cast (which is f***ing amazing)

Why would anyone actually like Mario as a character? He doesn't have any. Link at least has grunts and answers from NPCs that let you know his character (as well as WW being expressive as hell) and Crono is done by AT, who could give a piece of ply wood character in his designs...

What the hell does Mario have? He is the ultimate PC and nothing else.

I should say I have a guaranteed -8 still as well since I don't have the winner of the loser bracket correct

Assuming Mario holds today and Link wins out I have somewhere between 156 and 164 points to come out of a possible 172 remaining. And I'm guessing the only people who can gain on me have Cloud running through the losers bracket (or somehow called Zelda's run correctly and she wins losers bracket or it all)

I guess worst case I likely stay in the Top 50.

Paper Mario is a different character. We've gone over this. Both in canon and according to Nintendo they are not the same.

Crash has personality, it sucks, but it's there.
Sonic always had personality (and now has far too much... go back a bit on that).
Jak had great personality, then they made him edgy the edged edge master...
Ratchet has oodles of personality
Princess Peach, and Toad in their own series has personality in their platformers.
Yoshi could use a bit more, still more than Mario.
And it's crazy to say the entire DK crew isn't bursting with it

I love the first Jak and Daxter game, but he had no personality whatsoever in that game. Daxter and Keira were the ones with personality.
and Ratchet's personality was mainly being a knobhead.

Well if you run Seph's xstat through the Tifa loss instead of the Mario loss which is a little bit cheaty I admit, Seph is going to end up as the weakest FF7 character in the bracket via xstats

Granted that's flawed because of running it through his loser bracket result and also having to believe Zelda > Aerith is the same strength Zelda as legends bracket Zelda

Link got 60. Mario won’t get anywhere near 55. 52/3 at best.

I honestly think cloud can beat him.

I think 25th is a large stretch. You would have to believe that everyone in legends bracket beats him plus find 9 more in the original bracket.

If we are being very generous and saying he definitely is the weakest in legends then maybe from main bracket you can say MMX, Vivi, Luigi, Kirby. Then I have to start stretching. You could have Aerith and Squall if you run the xstats funky and saying Zelda is constant. That gets you to 22nd. I'm struggling to find more and I also think that is already being very, very generous

I think realistically we are looking at the 10-15 range

It's still an upset if it happens (I don't feel safe calling any close match against Mario) even if the last meeting showed it was plausible. Very few people were calling for it since a 2% flip is still a 2% flip. Me and War were the only two I saw advocating for it and I'm not sure War was even doing it seriously or just out of wishful thinking.
