XIII would have a good shot at winning the whole contest if Mario clutched here (especially if he then went on to beat Zelda in the salty runback, which would equate to 16 lost points here).

I'm 31st and would probably be top 10 if Mario had beat Zelda as a lot of people above me in the guru had snake winning that match

I guess Cloud had a decent early vote now? He's lost gobs of percentage to both Link and Crono.

I would guess Cloud gets around 53% against Mario, assuming he ends at 56% again after Europe has its say. That's based on the 58/42 Mario/Bowser ratio. I'm rooting for Cloud against Samus, but she's probably the favorite.

I’m 12. I had Mario beating Zelda. I also had Samus making it all the way back to Mario before losing. I would’ve won the whole thing if that all planned out. I felt sick once Zelda beat Mario, but seeing Samus bearing him too makes me feel better.

Youl probably finish top 10. Not many people would have backed samus to make it to the losers finals imo

ayyy lmao in the year where Mario was poised to finally rise to #2 and over-come all the non-Nintendo between him and Link over the years (Snake, Cloud, Crono, Sephiroth) he jobs to two ladies from his own company instead.

Why are people saying this is over?

Lead is less than 100. Mario won in Europe last time and extended his lead to over 700 by the end of the first match.

Also if Mario does in fact lose this can we nominate him for Turd of the contest??

nah it just means people gave him way too much credit just for being FREAKIN' MARIO when he'd done very little to warrant being called the clear #2 character in many years

But is going down from #2 to #3/4 in the N9 ranking really that bad? Snake dropped more

The reality is Mario, Samus, and Zelda are interchangeable on any given day. We’ve already seen Mario and Samus swap (assuming Samus wins today, which she will), and Zelda went from barely beating Snake (who got murked by Samus) to barely beating Mario (who barely beat Samus).

The only questionable person still is Cloud. He’s certainly weaker than the four Nintendos but he would have a good match against Snake.

well I mean Mario is still very close to being #2 (at least directly when you throw him up against Samus and Zelda, although it's murkier when we start discussing indirect strength)

but he's not quite as far ahead of the rest of the field as some people thought he might be

People been hating on Sephiroth but if not for specifically going against Tifa, he would’ve beaten most of the non-Nintendos.

I like how there's a normal gap between Zelda and Snake despite Zelda beating Snake with less than 51%

Pikachu is stronger than Sonic. Tifa might be too. And MMX.

Snake beating Mario wouldn't shock me. I definitely think he gets a lot closer than what he got on Samus

Snake would not beat Mario. Snake fell off a lot. He would still dominate a non-N9 bracket, but he isn’t among the upper echelon like the last few contests.

Snake probably doesn't beat Mario, but he could. Mario is clearly not stronger than Samus if he's struggling for his life even with the Hierarchy in his corner.

Snake went even with Zelda, blew out Sonic, and blew out Auron. His falloff is less than you think.

With any luck, we’ll get a few bonus matches:

Cloud v. Snake (Snake won last time, but I don’t think it’d happen this time)

Tifa v. Sonic

Sephiroth v. Mario

Cloud beat Snake last time they faced, actually.

we also don't need to see Sephiroth vs. Mario again

2013 snake destroys everyone bar Link so he has felll off. But yeah not that much.

Samus is going to destroy Cloud. If SFF didn’t exist, she’d get like 45% on Link. She might even beat 2013 Snake.

No proof of this. Basically lines up with Samus/Mario's results once you take the Nintendo hierarchy into account, which we know for a fact exists. And if an FF7 hierarchy exists, it goes in Sephiroth's direction, not the other way around.

In the NN, there is LITERALLY no way he is not top 5.

He beat MM straight up, and the bottom 3 are the 3 guys who start with "S"
