If this result holds, I'll only have gotten Bowser right, which apparently only 4% of brackets did.

Registered Vote Result:
Ganondorf - 3405 (40.57%)
Mega Man - 4987 (59.43%)

Anonymous Vote Result:
Ganondorf - 3277 (38.76%)
Mega Man - 5177 (61.24%)

Alucard vs. Bowser
Registered Vote Result:
Alucard - 4038 (48.12%)
Bowser - 4354 (51.88%)

Anonymous Vote Result:
Alucard - 4231 (50.04%)
Bowser - 4224 (49.96%)

Registered users favored Ganondorf again, though these splits might not be as reliable this time due to the effect of sprites. I'd guess registered users would be smarter than the anonymous users and be more likely to recognize the picture of Ganondorf.

Bowser does almost 2% better with registered users, and Alucard just barely wins the registered user vote.

The other major story with these 2 matches are the vote totals. Both registered users and anonymous users were severely affected by the drop in vote totals. The total votes from both registered users and anonymous users sets a record low for both groups of users during the entire contest. Anonymous users were more heavily affected by the drop in vote totals, which allowed for the registered user percentage to approach nearly 50% of the total raw votes in both matches. We haven't gotten above 49% registered user votes since Day 8 of the contest (featuring Kirby and Phoenix).

How certain are we that Mario still beats Samus? Their last 1v1 was in 2005 when there were triple the amount of votes and a large portion of casual votes favouring Mario. I think Samus is at least going to make it close.

I think Tifa vs Sephiroth proves that the hierarchy is not necessarily set in stone forever. I would still be very surprised if Samus beats Mario, but no longer be absolutely shocked.

It would take the entirety of WaifuFAQs for Samus to beat Mario.

The HIERARCHY is more rigid when it comes to Nintendo than with Square

Is there a prevailing theory as to why the votals were so low for the previous matches?

Maybe Auron is getting hurt more by his sprite than Snake even. His design is really critical to his strength.

Like a year ago I brought up the possibility of Tifa beating Sephiroth. People criticized it pretty harshly, saying that there was no way the FF7 hiearchy could change. Ha! I suppose Sephiroth could still catch up and win, though.

Snake and Auron both look pretty rough, but I still think Snake's sprite is worse. You can look at Auron's sprite and infer that it's Auron. Snake is unrecognizable to anyone who doesn't already know what his NES sprites look like.

It's kind of strange that we're barely registering surprise at Tifa Ulti-style destroying Sephiroth at this point.

This would have been a lot more shocking if we hadn't seen Mario 60-40 the guy a few days ago.

Well yeah, that's the point. We've seen crazy results nearly every day so far in the Legends bracket, so now this barely seems weird.

I think it's likely we'll have a 100% confirmed case of rSFF by the end of Winners R2. The Samus-Tifa-Sephiroth-Mario extrapolation suggests Samus is stronger than Mario.

If Samus loses to Mario, then it's either because a) 59% on Tifa is not more impressive than 59% on Sephiroth because Tifa rSFF'd Sephiroth, or b) Mario rSFF'd Samus.

If Samus beats Mario by about the same margin as Tifa beats Sephiroth, then the stats are mostly consistent and there is no rSFF.

There could also be other factors like match picture or the bandwagon effect or people just voting differently in the Losers bracket, but they would need to favor Tifa or Mario pretty strongly.

Oh right.

The real best part of this match is that Draven looks even worse.

Mario getting 58% on Samus again after all this is going to be a 'fun' day.

sonic is right now about 1% below 2013 projections but auron is still rising and prob will go up in night. so it seems sonic auron and snake all stayed the sameish.

The sprite pictures seem to explain the reason for the low vote totals. In the previous topic, I talked about something that I call the "Saturday vote total penalty" where vote totals always seem to be lower on average on a Saturday compared to Monday-Thursday. The previous matches were on a Saturday and that could explain some of our poor vote totals, but previous Saturday matches were still doing at least 28000 votes minimum where as the previous matches could barely crack 25000.

My theory of the sprite pictures hurting our vote totals appears to be validated by the early vote totals on the current matches right now. At this point in the match, we're about 180 votes behind yesterday's matches.

I think Sephiroth/Tifa is our best bet for rSFF so far, though our estimates of their strength was close enough that we can't guarantee that it's the case.

Sad day for Seph fans like me. Well I am going to sleep. Didn't expected that. FF 7 remake please!

Didnt she like become a vegetable after Cloud was hurt. My memory of FFVII's plot is super fuzzy, but I remember loving Tifa in disc one and disappointed in how she mentally collapsed in disc two.

So what happened to Ryu? Ryu looks pretty bad now. If Sephiroth is weaker than Zelda, Shepard is also weaker than Garrus.
