How the hell is pikachu being rallied? Wtf is your idea of rallying anyway?

In the history of gamefaqs contests. Every contest has had votes from other sites and other users. Even when gfaqs was drawing in 120k votes per day back in the early/mid 2000 there were people from other much smaller sites voting in. Just nothing significant.

Large rallies like undertake and draven are real rallies that significantly change the outcome of the match.

Megaman just isn’t strong enough to beat Pikachu properly or is struggling to beat him in a close contest. If he was he’d be 55-45 up and pikachu couldn’t do anything about it. By being so close you’re vulnerable to losing when the opposite character is more well known in the mainstream and can garner those extra 300-400 votes from anywhere.

I think Pikachu has a higher natural strength, though I'd still consider a Pikachu-Bowser match to be in doubt because Pokémon is lower on the Nintendo totem pole than Mario and Bowser's probably the second-strongest Mario character.

It's tough to tell how strong Ganondorf is right now because he's getting his clock cleaned by Link, who SFFs him harder than anyone, and his last contest ended in a match with Mario and the rally that beat Mario. Ganondorf looked pretty good in winning his division, but not world-beating. Besides, the last "reliable" figure that Ganondorf put up in a loss was 2010, when Sonic Team was crapping the bed all over the place and Ganondorf still comfortably lost to Sonic (albeit in the sprite round, saddled with his Zelda 1 Ganon sprite).

No chance this is actually true ASV trends in action. Pikachu started coming back after the start of the traditional ASV starting time, but it could be a case of Pikachu getting a rally, or Mega Man's rallies dying down.

I think you're overshooting a little bit. I could easily see Ganondorf breaking 44% on Mega Man. But I'd be surprised if he broke 45%, or if so, only barely.

Match CXXIII: (4) Cloud Strife vs. (3) Alucard

Previous/Current Contest Performance

Cloud Strife - 2013
Round 1: 66.06% against Prinny (23.61%) and Senator Steven Armstrong (10.33%)
Round 2: 49.47% against Frog (27.74%) and Lugia (22.79%)
Round 3: 41.94% against Squirtle (41.94%) and Leon Kennedy (15.15%)

Alucard
Defeated Princess Peach, 56.81% - 43.19%
Defeated Yuna, 59.62% - 40.38%
Defeated Kefka, 59.44% - 40.56%
Defeated Pokemon Trainer Red, 53.81% - 46.19%

Analysis

Alucard’s plan of winning a division has come to fruition and while he had to go through multiple Nintendo and Square characters his journey on the winner’s bracket ends here. While I am willing to give him full credit for his performances, they weren’t exactly Noble Nine slaying performances. I expect him to have a relative respectable loss.

With Final Fantasy VII looking decent, I think any prospect of Cloud dropping has gone out the window. The caveat is that it doesn’t look like Final Fantasy VII has increased too much, with most numbers placing them between their 2010 and 2013 stats. This could be an issue for Cloud in future matches. Cloud does have the potential Smash Bros. boost to look forward to, but that could amount to very little given that most characters remaining also have ties to Super Smash Bros. 4 and Ultimate.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Cloud Strife > Big Boss

charmander6000’s Prediction: Cloud Strife wins, 63.26% - 36.74%

Match CXXIV: (5) Crono vs. (4) Bowser

Previous/Current Contest Performance

Crono - 2013
Round 1: 63.00% against Missile (19.26%) and Sarah Kerrigan (17.74%)
Round 2: 40.42% against Pikachu (47.07%) and Magus (12.51%)

Bowser
Defeated Gordon Freeman, 77.39% - 22.61%
Defeated Charizard, 56.55% - 43.45%
Defeated 2B, 58.19% - 41.81%
Defeated Kirby, 53.86% - 46.14%

Analysis

I was a big proponent of Chrono Trigger characters receiving a boost this contest. For the most part, that prediction has come true, however, it wasn’t by as much as I thought. The good news for Crono is it likely pushes him away from the elite character nipping on the heels of the lower ranked Noble Nine characters. Also, it helps that being “only equal to Pikachu” is looking pretty good right now.

For the most part, Bowser did his job to win his division, but it was nothing special. If Crono continued decreasing in strength I would give Bowser a chance for the upset, but I don’t feel that is the case.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Crono > Bowser

charmander6000’s Prediction: Crono wins, 55.78% - 44.22%
CBX - Today's Winners: Link and Mega Man
Score: 196/256

So are we all in agreement that regardless whether Mega Man still comes back to win this, Pikachu is definitely winning the rematch?

I still stand that this is a disappointing performance for the blue bomber given what happened 5 years ago. You don't go from barely beating Charizard with Zero in the poll to barely losing 1v1 against a Pokemon of similar strength 5 years ago. Especially since he has Mega Man 11 now.

if cloud can only muster 58% on alucard. He might as well lose to crono in the next round to save himself the embarrassment of facing link.
I can't be the only person who expects another good performance from Pikachu next round. I think he's about to have the best non-rallied, non-N9 percentage against Link ever, even better than Magus in 2003.

He could have and still had a chance to win. But how the hell do you lose by 100 votes in the space of 25 mins? That’s what will kill him.

I still think he’ll stall and cut until the end but lose by 20 votes or so.

Pikachu will do well to avoid being Tripled.

I kinda have to use it, since the N9 has gone into the 40s on Link multiple times (and beaten him once). What I guess we can say is that if Pikachu goes for 38%, it will be the best any Nintendo character has ever done against Link. Mario and Samus could never manage it.
That was actually a decent cut by Mega Man. This match isn't over yet.

Edit: That one wasn't so great, though.

I don’t think he’ll SFF Pikachu that much. Links base strength this contest is unknown. But anything over 70 is Ridiculous. I don’t think any other N9 would get over 60 against pikachu. Not even cloud or Mario/samus.
Mega Man needs 7 votes cut per update to win. These baby cuts aren't gonna cut it.
