Lopen posted... The distinction a lot of people, usually idiots, don't make, is there are reasons to be wrong other than being an idiot. There are plenty of matches that were thought to be debatable that didn't end up close, or matches that weren't thought to be close that did end up close, but they had reasons to go for what didn't happen. Like if you called Squall vs Zelda as a narrow win for Squall that doesn't make you an idiot that just means things have changed this year. Same is true of Mega Man vs Pikachu here. As an idiot, I am offended by your implication that I should be grouped with people who can't make that distinction. |

I'm just glad to be on the right side of one of these; normally when my opinions deviate far from the consensus, I'm the one that's wrong. Even I felt like my Pikachu upset pick was just wishful thinking, but this always felt like it would be close to me. This result vindicates Charizard, by the way. Turns out that Zero's 44% on Mega 1v1 and subsequent heavy LFF allowing Cube to beat Mega in '08 may not have been rSFF after all; Zero is legitimately that strong! It was just LPF in 2013. I still have no idea what happened against Terra this year, but everything that made Charizard look bad in 2013 can easily be explained away now. Remember the first match that Charizard looked "bad" in? It was against Zelda and Donkey Kong. Okay, granted, DK's performance against Vivi suggests that the upset of Leon is probably less DK boost and more Leon deboost (though it's also a bit of DK boost), but everyone's been talking Zelda up as a Noble Nine Breaker this year. And Bowser has always been a near-elite, so 43.45% on him is not bad. I don't deny that Charizard was never as good as he looked in his debut contest, but I feel it can officially be said: Charizard is not a fraud. "Someday I'll catch up, and then you'll all be surprised!" BKSheikah has the power. He is the one. |

It's
kind of cheating for this to be the closest match between characters
when the vote totals are so low. A 200 vote difference means a lot less
when the match is struggling to get 30k votes. Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |

have Pikachu over Mega Man. I wasn't confident at all but I feel like
the Rat or Zelda had the best shot at a NN'er this year. I feel like we
are hitting peak 90s nostalgia now or soon and Mega Man is so 80s. I
wouldn't be surprised if X gets closer to MM in the next few years. |

match helps vindicate the Mega Man = MMX people. He's still weaker, but
there's not *that* much difference between 54.8% on Yoshi and 51.36% on

Sonic, Mega Man, Cloud, Sephiroth, and Crono have are all 20+ years past their heyday and their still among the strongest contests have to offer. I'm in the minority, but I got into Mega Man through Mega Man 64, Mega Man Battle Network, and Mega Man Xtreme, which all released around the same time. I made sure to play the NES games afterwards because I loved all the other ones I played. Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |
