The only Noble Nine breaks I'm taking are Pikachu > MM and Zelda > Sonic. Are these reasonable or not?

I'm taking the first one myself and putting the second one on my for fun bracket because I do find it reasonable. I've also got Bowser > Crono.

Zelda > Sonic makes sense to me for risk vs reward. I dont see Pikachu being a force.

No way in hell will samus ever beat mario. She’s beaten snake before so sure. She could even topple cloud possibly definitely Seph.

But never mario or link. Even if she’s indirectly stronger than Mario. The SFF is too strong in Marion favour.

How high are people going for tiebreakers in second chance? Think we are going to get moar votals in the later matches?

It should be slightly higher compared to the first 4 rounds, but I wouldn't expect the average to be any higher than 23000. We're barely averaging over 20000 through the first 4 rounds. An ideal tiebreaker should be in the 610000 to 700000 range.

I don't feel like Pikachu's performances against Yoshi or Zero were Noble Nine breaking ones myself.

Chrono Trigger is out here putting a hurt on Link to the Past. CT has managed to hold on something fierce after all these years. What a lost of video games, though! The SNES is too good.

It (anecdotally) says something about the timeless quality of Chrono Trigger that I first played it as an adult, 16 years after its release, and it catapulted to the top of my favorite games from that era. At the very least, it's top three

What did SMRPG look like in 2015 again?

How did it outplace like every other Mario game? Weak path? I guess they got Undertale'd, but I don't remember the bracket exactly.

It got paired up with a bunch of PS2 era games and none were quite strong enough to take out a SNES classic. If any arguments were to be had about the winner of a console contest, Mario RPG's run put them to bed imo.

A console contest would be great to have. My only concern is that Allen will probably use the rotating picture format from the Years contest to highlight some of the best games from each console. We saw how the Years contest was extremely picture dependent, and using this for a console contest might distort some of the results.

It really is an incredible, timeless game. Anyone could play it in 2018, and just have an amazing time. It isn’t my favorite SNES game, but it’s gotta be top 10. Such a shame it didn’t make the cut for the SNES Classic.

It just wouldn't be right to have a console contest without using renditions of the consoles themselves as their match pictures, in my opinion.

A console contest would end up almost exactly like the years contest and given how poorly received the years contest was, I doubt we'll ever get a console contest.

None of the matches will be exciting to watch, since every match will be a blowout (SNES can break 60%+ on any other console) and there will be a bunch of fodder from consoles no one has played (WonderSwan vs R-Zone).

Console contest would always suck and would always ultimately come down to SNES vs. PS2, which the SNES would win.

I honestly think the N64 could make a run at the PS2, but I agree that the contest winner would be obvious.

I dunno, it's gotta have at least some strength from having OoT, right? Then again, the Gamecube has the best controller of all time while the N64 has... a controller for people with three hands

Eh, I think the voters are pretty smart. While the N64 has some top tier first party games, it has a rather lackluster overall library. I don't think it's as obvious as "OoT = Instant win."

GameCube has the best controller for smash.

Otherwise it’s a pretty archaic and poor controller. Too small.

Take out the SNES 1v1 n64 comfortably beats GameCube.

Nostalgia is strong. Multi way polls with that much SFF aren’t accurate to how things will. Perform. Just look at multi-way character polls.

Why they keep refering to FF 4 as FF 2 and FF 6 as FF 3? Seriously? Yeah it is on Snes. I get it. But you would think everyone would know the mistake by now!

I've played most of the games on the PotD.

I think I only ever played three of them on an actual SNES.

The top-heavy nature of the N64 would win the day over the GCN. OoT may not equal instant win, but OoT + SM64 + MM indeed would.

If we're only gonna get big contests every couple (or few) years, I don't see the harm in giving us little ones to whet our appetites. I'd still rather have the Years contest than none at all.

Now, the unattractive thing about the Console contest is the spectacular degree to which the SNES would dominate, so the best bracket set up would be to stack the bottom half with the other big four (PS1, PS2, N64, NES) to get at least a couple of interesting matches.

Yeah, I think the N64 would beat the Cube 1-on-1. I'm just saying that I don't think the N64 would be strong enough to topple the PS2 just because it has OoT on it.

The thing about a console contest is that it would be 75% ultra fodder, even in a small bracket.

So what if the SNES easily wins the contest, the only thing stopping Link from winning this contest was rallies. With a games contest likely being delayed until 2020 (Game of the Decade 2) a small contest in 2019 won't hurt.

Eh, there's at least some interest in seeing how strong characters are relative to Link since we have Character Battles regularly (and the SNES would win bigger than Link ever has except for maybe 2002). Like with 1998 utterly dominating Years, there's no real intrigue to the SNES dominating because it's not like we'll ever have another one.
