I mean the fact that he thinks he would have been a 400 vote deficit says it all really.

Well, it is official. Tifa vs. X gave 2018 its first representation on the all-time Top 25 closest matches, coming in at #22. It's the tenth-closest 1v1 match of all time.

(Of course, the former figure doesn't count close races where both entrants were eliminated anyway, like SFIV-P4 in 2009 or Kratos Aurion-Boko in 2013)

2015 has no representation on the Top 25, so this marks the closest match since Mega Man-Charizard at the end of Round 3 in 2013.

Hmm damn if I didn't bank so much on Pokefear my Vivi > Ganon would've made my bracket real good...

wait what? Tifa recovered from her 400 votes deficit throughout the night which is a normal FFVII/MM trend, FF does great during the Europe vote and MM sucks. If Tifa did get a rally it was barely 50-100 votes toward the end and that simply can not be compared to reddit rallying THOUSANDS of votes for the same character EVERY match. The rallies Tifa got would do her NOTHING if she was facing someone significantly stronger than her, like Link. Draven/Undertale were simply unstoppable.

This is interesting. Seems like we switch over to 1 match per day at match 141, and then switch back to 2 matches per day at match 143. The switch back to 2 matches per day lasts for 2 days, and then we switch back to 1 match per day for the final 4 days of the contest.

That is very strange. TRE originally figured out that we were supposed to switch over to 1 match per day at match 143 for the final 7 days of the contest, but it seems like this is not the correct schedule after all.

MMX was 100 votes up at the beginning of his window, and had 5 hours of strong time to work with. If there were no hentai rallies, he would have won by at least 400 votes.

we have a losers bracket for some reason. Waste of time imo but i'm glad those are 2 battles per day.

People admitted to stuffing for Tifa (OFool or something). People (not ExTha) were posting on all the hentai subreddits right around the time Tifa started to take off.

ExTha came in when the match was over and tried to take credit for rallying her to a win, despite the fact that he's "vehemently against rallies" or some s***

I think someone jokingly suggested r/hentai for Tifa after a successful MMX rally was posted (1.7k views, 140+ upvotes and a ton of comments). Then someone actually went and did it.

Nobody admitted vote stuffing for MMX but all the Peruvian VPNs had been used to vote and Peru was very, very heavily slanted towards MMX (like 89% MMX when I looked).

Both sides must have rallied and/or cheated a ton as they were both receiving over double their last round intake in the last 2 hours and obviously against stronger opposition.

We had annoying MM fans back on the fft social board, too. This predates Board 8 for me. That Mega Man/Charizard trash was insufferable.

Because the game ended up sucking, had an ad campaign that literally insulted a large part of its fanbase, and straight up didn't work on some consoles.

I backed Mighty No 9 and played and the game was awful. People had good reason to complain, especially the backers.

So who started the hentai rallies? Was it the same person or just an idea that someone made (on Discord?) that people decided to go with?

They have more upvotes than Tifa lead over X was, they clearly decided the winner

At least two close friends of mine are huge, life long Mega Man fans, backed Mighty No. 9, and

I've seen sad people and then I've seen those guys react to that game being finished after like three years of shenanigans
