Tifa's good people but X is my fam. I have some much nostalgia from X1 in the 90s that he or Zero might have been my favorite character before Link. And it still may be my favorite SNES game (top three with SMW and CT for sure).

MMX isn't really generic main character guy

MMX is actually sub generic main character guy because what little characterization he has is actively bad. He's basically whiny about violence (while mercilessly blowing s*** up) and then nothing ever comes of it.

I think Squeenix was pushing Vincent hard in the 2000s and stopped doing so later on, which is why Vincent fell in contest strength.

Zack Fair seemed to drop similarly between 2010 and 2013 and then he didn't even make this contest!

This match is intensely disappointing to me simply because Square does not catch a break. Everyone here "wow it's a shame that Square is getting the raw deal" and then votes against them anyway.

And yeah MMX kind of sucks.

It's ridiculous that you have to defend the site daring to enjoy Tifa, who by all means is a well-written character with depth, when basically half of the Noble Nine are more or less avatars and proxies of their games/series. Like no one has said "it's sad X is winning just because he's a cool robot" but the "Tifa is just a pretty face/has boobs" comments are quite common.

Hey I care about the good Square characters losing. Squall didn’t deserve to be buried by literally Zelda of all characters. Tidus deserves better too. At least Auron and Vivi are somehow looking good still.

The most ridiculous post of the last 24 hours was Nanis going "wow MMX, I hope he can make the miracle happen", even though MMX had like a 99% chance of winning at that point. Because somehow it's always a miracle when a Square character loses a debatable match, even though it's all that's happened this contest.

If you're not super big on Nintendo/mascot characters than these contests are basically worthless to you at this point. You either stay for the stats or take a raincheck. And I love stats, but damn.

Still pissed Estelle Bright never catches a break in these contests.

This is the first time in 16 years on the board that I've heard people s*** talk MMX. You guys can't be happy that Tifa wrecked Mewtwo and is going even with a guy who still might be able to beat Sonic and Crono?

I thought Tifa would win this match pre-contest and that Mewtwo was a big fraud, so no.

For the record I do like X a lot and FF7 wasn't one of my first games or anything, I grew up with the NES. I just prefer Tifa better is all.

We in this stallfest for 3 hours now
Only one hour and a half remains, I don't think anyone is going to run away with the lead, even if there might be a lead change

This match will probably end under 100 votes difference

Jeez if you're going to rally porn subreddits you at least need to make sexually suggestive titles or something. For example:

Or something like that, etc etc.

I feel like without Draven, there would have been way less smaller rallies. Most of the weird outcomes came out after the first Draven match and I don't think that's a coincidence.
This has no link but I'm almost sure Squirtle > Cloud would have never happened without the Draven rally.

thankfully the thing for me is while neither are two of my favorite characters I like both Tifa and X and it's cool it's a close match of characters I actually like
