Brackets, same as Squall, which is why Zelda also just went up. B8 will always bracket vote when it matters most.

That can't be why since I would expect this match to have a pretty good split between those who picked both Fox or Aerith in their bracket. And Aerith already had a fairly low percentage of brackets choosing her to get to round 3 in the first place.

To be fair, they could still be if you assume it's Squall being terrible instead of Zelda doing great.

Just stating facts. Zelda winning a match most people thought she would win easily by the time we got here isn't what I meant by a "clutch" performance. Zelda losing this would have been considered a choke job.

I don't think the schadenfreude outweighs me personally being upset about Zelda stomping Squall this badly either though, so I just feel worse.

Squall started out very poorly against Hat Kid too, so I would expect him to gain a lot of percentage by the end of the match. I don't think he has any chance to win, but he could make it look more respectable at least.

I wouldn't read too much into Ganon/Vivi or Zelda/Sonic just yet.

It's a combination of both. Squall is well below Ryu now, and Zelda has boosted.

For the record, I think Leon's the man, but that gif was just too damn good to ignore.

Even if Squall dropped a bit, 61-39 is gross as hell. That is likely top 5 level, if not just under Link given how everyone else had reasons to fall.

I would legit hype Zelda to give Samus/Snake a hell of a match with this result.

Also, for anyone who's thinking this only Squall falling off than Zelda: we have a direct comparison to Ramza, who probably hasn't changed much since 2013. And Zelda is currently outperforming her projected score against Ramza by...a lot.

He was quite forthcoming with his Squall>Zelda prediction even after that, at least in my writeup topic. Leon is a contest legend and I like and respect him a lot as a user. However he did quite vocally blunder on this one so a bit of gloating is just meant in good fun, as long as it's not actually mean.

It's safe to say that Fox isn't coming back versus Aerith, right?
