I concur. There is no way they don't have the exact same fanbase (hyper casual gamers who only play the big sale items, not that there's anything wrong with this). They play like, 5-10 games per year and love CoD/GTA and such. Right now they're loving RDR2.

hard to argue with this as he starts in one of my all time favorite games. thought i haven't played his DS games which is a shame. thought i dont think i missed out on Sticker Star and whatever the last one is called.

I for one am rooting for Alucard to win, and not just because it would make my Sora pick hurt less. I feel like Alucard never really got a fair shake to do damage in any past contests.

Did I REALLY overestimate him? I guess that Luigi/Ness/Big Boss match is the fault
I consider Luigi a powerhouse and couldn't even think about Big Boss having a chance, regardless of a Ness which I thought would be a non-factor (as he would be SFF'd to the ground)
And Big Boss winning that surprised the hell out of me

I voted for Kefka because he's my second favorite villain, but I don't mind see Alucard's plan succeed here. It would be great having a non-Nintendo/Square character win a division... MMX is the only other one with a serious shot at doing so. Go MMX!

Zero still has a chance. actually Geralt with a rally, Bayonetta is only adopted Nintendo and there is a super outside shot for Sub-Zero and i suppose Tails?

Here's Ryu's percentage on Chun-Li over the history of those polls:

Chun-Li has actually improved her percentage on Ryu over the history of those polls, so maybe we should have seen a Chun-Li boost coming.

Ganondorf got 58.91% on Chun-Li, so using the most recent SF2 character poll projects Ganondorf to put up 50.92% on Ryu. Given how well Ryu has looked this contest, I could totally believe that he is only slightly weaker than Ganondorf. This seems to explain the performance against Chun-Li and also makes Spyro's performance look even more impressive by getting a boost just to keep up with Chun-Li.

Maybe this poll is the outlier then. It certainly makes more sense that this would be the outlier being a 3-way, all-female poll.

All of this is pointing out to Snake losing to something like Samus and busting a thousands brackets.

I guess you could argue Yoshi overperformed Against Pikachu but we haven’t really had a telling match of Yoshi’s strength in a while

(I guess there was the four way with Squall where he was clearly under him but apart from that there’s Yoshi/Dante and that’s it)

We're also talking about a 52/48 gap from 13 years ago, not exactly huge.

Kirby doesn't even need to be the hero of Smash to beat Bowser every contest since 2007 has suggested he's been closing the gap.

Finaly day on the leaderboard. I was there on 5 days. I had Yuna winning the division so...I think my highest was like 10 days? So many years and I still suck!

I came back from work and checked the results.

Why Big Boss is so close to Red? What?
Kefka man can you ever have a normal match? That makes sense?
2B so close to Bowser? Man t*** are cool! And panty shots it seems!
Kirby is rocking. How people like him so much? Oh yeah Hero of Smash I guess.

So there has to be some element of SFF to Kirby > Phoenix, right? Going by the 2013 x-stats, even Mega Man wouldn't put up this much of a beatdown without SFF. And Phoenix has no reason to be weaker, yet he barely looks stronger than Isaac here.

@DoctorJimmy133 Kirby might be the strongest non N9er. Him or MMX. So everything is fine I believe.

The lower Phoenix goes, the more amazing Isaac's performance looks against Kirby.

Phoenix got 40.32% on Mewtwo in 2013 before the latter got bandwagonied and rallied. Early rounds of 2013 Mewtwo = 2018 Mewtwo project 2013 Phoenix to get 33.79% on 2018 Tifa. So I'd say this result on Kirby is reasonable, though definitely not what I wanted to see from Phoenix.

Also, keep in mind Ike almost lost to Zidane in 2010 and Protoman in 2013.

Maybe post-contest if there's an interest in super-advanced stats, we can build up something for the hardcore contest folks.

It does make me wonder the result has to do with Phoenix going up against another board favorite in Kirby, but he could just be that strong

Yeah, at best Kirby is only overperforming by a couple of percentage points, Phoenix Wright has never been that strong, just above the fodder line.

We could have another Ganondorf/Chun-Li scenario with Bowser/2B. It's not a stretch to argue that Ness and Shadow are stronger this contest.
