What's up with the random choice of who gets 1 name or 2 on the homepage? As in why is Leon, "Leon" But DK isn't "Donkey"?

This has seemingly hurt a few characters up to this point. Not to mention terrible pictures. I haven't been following the contest at all this year, but what has been the general consensus on how it's being run? Votals are obviously super low, but the running of it also seems to be trash.

Shepard also looks a little better after this match. It still shouldn't have been close but apparently Donkey Kong stuff is stupid this year.

I imagine all the characters made to look bad against Smash will look better in round 2 when they're not against Smash.

Yes, the 7:00 PM starting time will apply for all of the remaining matches in this contest.

We've had previous matches where the clock goes back one hour for DST, such as this one:

The entire 1:00-2:00 AM hour gets repeated a second time. I wouldn't expect the DST switch to cause problems with the updater for the current matches at the moment. It's all about the next night's matches which will start an hour earlier.

It has had its details here and there, but overall it's been handled pretty well. Normally when someone has a bad match pic the other character does as well, but when only one does it hasn't really altered the outcome of the match.

Well, I somehow made it to #4 on the leaderboard, far surpassing my initial expectations, but if today's any indication, it's all chaotic freefall from here.

At least Shepard is somewhat vindicated.

So far, the current vote pace is in line with round 1 matches.

I would have expected to see at least a small increase in vote totals for round 2 since Voter Apathy Factor will be far less of a factor in this round now that most of the fodder is out of the contest.

Vivi was not the same kind of rally

is there normally an increase? and is it usually right away? i would think the early vote might not be affected because most of those votes are people who take the contest really seriously so they cant vote at a higher rate. probably have to see if there is any change after the overnight vote to get a real idea.

So this looks pretty bad for Ganondorf?

Pretty much all of our good evidence for Ganondorf being one of the top non-Noble Niners is from like 2005-2008. He wasn't in 2002. Barely beat Tidus and actually lost to Grand Fraudmaster Magus in 2003. Only had a match with Alucard in 2004 before running into the mother of all SFF against Link; he did well enough considering how Alucard looked in 2003 but if you consider how he "should" have done based on Alucard 2005 instead you could also say he didn't outperform pre-KHII Sora by much.

People made excuses for 2010 Ganondorf doing poorly on Sonic (easily worse than Kirby did) because of Bacondorf, but I mean, it was the Ganon from friggin' Link to the Past, not Zelda 1. And then 2013 Ganondorf got total losers Guybrush Threepwood and Max Payne before running into Mario and Vivi so pretty much no meaningful data at all that year.

How sure as we that Ganondorf is an enduring character outside the context of Twilight Princess hype and the couple years after its release?

The bright side of Ganondorf possibly losing before he runs into Link is that it would cut off what’s probably Draven’s best chance of not being last in the xstats

I'm no stats experts, but I'm pretty sure he needs to start at least stalling pretty damn soon.

Leon having a miserable Resident Evil Gaiden picture was blamed for this in 2010. Maybe that was all this was.

2013 was more concerning. Leon lost 4% against Gordon Freeman (!) from 2005 to 2013.

Given how total garbage Gordon looks now, I'm skeptical that this was Gordon going up in strength. And HL2 and RE4's poor 2015 showings are cause for suspicion on the both of them.

That's arguably sort of reasonable given the competition were very strong characters locked in a close match but neither of them should have normally been capable of SFFing him.

It's very unlikely Leon wins now, DK is winning most of Europe except for UK where he is losing by only a little.

Ganondorf's no Near Elite like he was in '05-'06, but neither are his potential opponents. They're all basically high end midcarders.

I would argue both Dante and Vivi are looking on that level. And Vivi's looked at that level since 2013.
Ganondorf has got to be considered the #3 most likely pick to win the division right now.

Weird bit of contest trivia: Dante's only had a single 1v1 match against a nintendo character (very close loss to Yoshi in 2006).
