Vincent was never a "fraud". People never really overrated him that much in 2013. Well, maybe in 2010 he was sort of a fraud because people assumed Sephiroth SFFed him that year....

there were some people this year who were arguing that Vincent was still the strongest non-Noble Niner

for some reason

Can't have nice things!

If only she got a normal pic!
My logical mind, on the inside: Magus and Joker are going to be their strongest in the first hour. It's highly unlikely they manage to clinch these matches, no matter how great it would be.

This is a new level of suck for him

I have a hard time rooting for Magus

one because he kinda sucks

and two because he was my original fraud campaign

This is looking like the best day of the contest so far.

I’m off to sleep now. Good luck Magus, you’ll need to build a lead because when I wake up so does Europe and it will bring with it a crimson red dawn for Vincent.

I'm suddenly #7 in the Oracle, wha? Unfortunately I picked Claire to win there... whoops.

I thought CT eventually got released in Europe? Forget how much that helped though.

CT has been released in Europe on 2 platforms - the DS version, and the Wii Virtual Console

Square continues to treat CT like s*** when it comes to Europe, though. Even FFIV and FFVI have gotten better treatment in Europe than CT has.

Haven't you heard? Rallies aren't a thing this year.

But seriously, Joker's right back in this. Another cut, plus Magus trying to reestablish his lead!

So if traditional trends hold up, we should starting the match around the end of the ASV. So Magus should have good times coming up for the next.....7 or so hours.

There's no way this lasts through the night, but Magus/Vincent looks like it has huge potential.

Not surprising. He's had Smash since then, plus returning for another contest almost always makes you stronger if your first contest was shortly after your debut game came out.

It has some Euro releases now including the DS release, but it’s not a substitute for nostalgia votes.

That's true. Even with those releases, anyone playing the game for the first time well past the age of 13 (especially as an adult) won't have the nostalgia factor influencing their vote.

I remember there was a Sonic 1 playrate poll sometime in the past few years and while Sonic 1 has very similar playrates in the US and the UK (slightly higher in the UK), Sonic 1 happens to be a lot stronger in the UK than the US. Nostalgia appears to be the explanation for Sonic 1's strength difference between the US and UK, as the UK gamers were far more likely to play Sonic 1 while they were young. The US situation was that the Genesis wasn't as popular there compared to the UK, and US gamers were probably more likely to have played Sonic 1 at an older age.

People make too much out of Magus "losing to a bag of sand." I mean, that's obviously funny, but it's a bag of sand that got around 40% on Sonic ( I think. I can't interpret those 4 way percentages well). You have to see the forest for the trees.

Things look okay for Claire, just based off what Europe says for her, but we'll see.

I wouldn't read much into the early Europe returns. The percentage of votes from Europe is probably pretty small right now since it's the middle of the night over there.

After he only got 60% in the previous round. The same as he got on Magus.

It was 60/40 in round 1 and about a doubling in round 2.
"Those who cast the vote decide nothing. Those who count the vote decide everything."
Janus5k 10/29/2018 6:09:13 PM#444
incidentally if you extrapolate through Sandbag and Magus wins, Auron gets nearly 70% next round
"Those who cast the vote decide nothing. Those who count the vote decide everything."
Eh, close matches tend to inflate percentages in multi-ways precisely because they're close.

Round 2 where Sandbag had nothing to fight for is probably closer to a more accurate read.

Joker's probably being carried by Japan right now (I think we get vaguely respectable vote totals from Japan?) it's kind of a stomp there. RE has always done well in Europe historically as well. Those two combined (Europe waking up and Japan going to sleep) will probably make this one not very close in the long run, but it's fun to watch now.
No problem!
This is a cute and pop genocide of love!
