So I just checked the results...
2B is dominating. But makes sense since I believe Cayde-6 is bottom 3 in this contest.
Shadow is keeping it close. But Ness wins as expected.
Okay didn't expected Terra to be that close. If only she had another match with someone else.
Does anyone really cares about Gordon now and he keeps nominated? Seriously.
So why we exist? What happens when we stop existing?

UK account voted for Charizard.

Correction from before though- there are 280 VPNs and most, but not all have voted (seemingly).

If my sample of 7/10 is indicative that’s about 180 votes for charizard from the UK

Shadow/Ness might end up closer by the end than Terra/Charizard. That match has been a huge stall-fest since the end of the second hour. Ness has only gained about 400 votes on the lead since then.

Assuming no rallies, by a little bit. Especially when there are no fodder matches and you arent forced to vote in 4 matches so theyre all characters people know and care about.

They do get bigger just because the strength of the competition goes up.

Since we started doing multiple matches a day in 2015, we've also seen notable increases in vote totals when going from 4 matches to 2 matches per day (or 2 to 1 match per day). 2015 had an increase in vote totals when going to 2 matches per day, but the switch to 1 match per day was impossible to determine with all of the late contest rallying that took place. Although the Years contest showed an increase in vote totals when going from 2 matches to 1 match per day.

Kind of surprised Charizard is performing so weakly... I figured he was the strongest of all the Pokemon characters. Did getting rolled back into PT in SSBU hurt him or something?

Is shadow closing in on Ness or is it just me? When I was on earlier, I thought the shadow/ness battle was a bit wider than the terra/charizard battle. Now they are almost equal.
Don't mind me. I'm just here for the contest.

Like there is no amazing feminist factor. It's just that when you pit two weak chars against each other, the one with prettier face and/or bigger boobs gets the apathy votes.

As for Terra, it's due to other factors. And Chun-Li underperformed.

Match XXIX: (3) Phoenix Wright vs. (14) Chris Redfield

Previous Contest Performance

Phoenix Wright - 2013
Round 1: 44.30% against Marth (36.07%) and Nightmare (19.63%)
Round 2: 29.91% against Mewtwo (44.28%) and Vincent Valentine (25.81%)

Chris Redfield - 2010
Round 1: 68.01% against Captain MacMillan (31.99%)
Round 2: 28.01% against Cloud Strife (71.99%)

Analysis

As I was constructing my bracket on my first run through I had Chris Redfield winning this match. I quickly switched it to Phoenix Wright. Chris had a pretty good performance against Cloud in 2010 and even if you suspect anti-votes he was only a couple of points behind Captain Falcon’s performance. Of course, it has been eight years since we last saw him, but I feel Resident Evil has held up over that time and Chris still makes appearances in those games.

Phoenix Wright looked pretty good in 2013, even ignoring his second-round match he did defeat Marth without too much trouble. I feel there’s a good chance that he may be weaker, but I’m always underestimating him so I may be wrong. Plus, with registered users’ votes counting double I imagine he’ll have a bit of a buffer and quite the board vote.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Phoenix Wright > Chris Redfield

charmander6000’s Prediction: Phoenix Wright wins, 58.24% - 41.76%

Match XXX: (6) Ike vs. (11) Joel

Previous Contest Performance

Ike - 2013
Round 1: 35.81% against Proto Man (35.26%) and Dr. Robotnik (28.94%)
Round 2: 25.39% against GlaDOS (44.92%) and Epona (29.70%)

Joel - N/A
N/A

Analysis

With Fire Emblem becoming more mainstream, I wonder if that will translate into a boost for Ike. On one hand, he tends to top popularity polls from the series, but on the other hand I imagine he gets most of his strength from Super Smash Bros. Lucky for him Ultimate is coming out soon.

For a new character, I think Joel will have some strength. The Last of Us had a decent performance during the games contest and I imagine some of that strength will translate to Joel. Ike isn’t the strongest, but he does get the job done and I wouldn’t take Joel over some of the opponents Ike has defeated in the past.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Ike > Joel

charmander6000’s Prediction: Ike wins, 62.35% - 37.65%
CBX - Today's Winners: 2B, Ness, Charizard, Bowser
Score: 18/24
Match XXXI: (7) Estelle Bright vs. (10) Isaac

Previous Contest Performance

Estelle Bright - N/A
N/A

Isaac - 2013
Round 1: 20.32% against Solid Snake (71.21%) and Commander Keen (8.48%)

Analysis

Isaac is an example of a character that should be complete fodder. His series is non-existent and really the only thing keeping him relevant is people wanting to see him in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, both he and Golden Sun have had decent performances throughout their history to the point where there is a small push for Isaac to be called the new fodder line.

Estelle however, won’t be breaking the fodder line. She’s only here due to a board rally. We don’t have a lot of information on her or her series, but based on the game’s performance during the Game of the Year polls I doubt she will amount to much.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Isaac > Estelle Bright

charmander6000’s Prediction: Isaac wins, 65.73% - 34.27%

Match XXXII: (2) Kirby vs. (15) Guile

Previous Contest Performance

Kirby - 2013
Round 1: 46.44% against Terra Branford (36.55%) and Princess Peach (17.01%)
Round 2: 51.28% against Elizabeth (24.48%) and Crash Bandicoot (24.24%)
Round 3: 33.65% against Sephiroth (37.93%) and Big Boss (28.42%)

Guile - N/A
N/A

Analysis

Kirby is a bit of an underdog, but has sizable support to win the division. He’ll have three matches to show that he can potentially challenge and defeat Bowser. Kirby had a pretty good 2013, but Bowser is currently killing Gordon Freeman. Sure, it was expected that Freeman will be weaker, but it’s still an impressive performance.

Guile has been on the board’s radar to rally for a while and now he gets an opportunity to show what he’s made of. Too bad we couldn’t get him in during the “Guile’s theme goes with everything” meme. Overall, I expect him to be a step below Chun-Li which is okay in terms of strength, but he’s not going to touch Kirby.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Kirby > Guile

charmander6000’s Prediction: Kirby wins, 69.45% - 30.55%
CBX - Today's Winners: 2B, Ness, Charizard, Bowser
Score: 18/24
Guile's theme still goes with everything.
