yeah I feel kind of dumb for not taking Crash considering how much I've bashed Cecil for sucking in these things

Can't wait until Squall gets announced as an Assist Trophy and gets put in a new KH3 trailer the day before the match.

I had Kefka to R4 and Pikachu > Yoshi until a few days before lockdown

I feel like I would have taken Pit over Wheatley+Vercetti without worrying too much, so I think Cecil > Crash was a reasonable assumption if you expected constant Crash/Cecil since 2013 (which seems in retrospect to be false, but I don’t know that it was an obviously dumb pick).

I mean it's pretty clearly not Sonic though

Never played Sonic CD but I've seen Super Mario Bros Z.

And Metal Sonic is an utter and complete boss in that.

We joke about Dark Link because the Zelda fans are drones.

I would vote Dark Link over most Zelda characters (would vote Agahnim and probably Zelda over him) but I'm not a Zelda fan either

Allen has generally been shortening the longer character names on the voting form, but I hope he doesn't shorten "Metal Sonic" to simply "Sonic". I assume he's not dumb enough to do that. But if "Metal Sonic" was shortened to "Sonic", it could possibly cause an overperformance.

Personally I think it was more bad voice direction in the eraly 2000s and James Arnold Taylor is way better actor when he does Tidus in Dissidia and stuff

Nah, he was great as Tidus, too.

It hits the intent way too well.

Tidus's VA is excellent. Yuna I'm more on the fence. On the one hand I kinda feel it fits but on the other I might like her more with a different voice

I think Yuna looks completely fine here though. Yuna imo can still win this division, actually, though I'm not betting on her.

Hedy Burress's performance is actually okay whenever you can't see Yuna's face onscreen because she's not so focused on matching lip flap.

I think the sound of Hedy Burress's voice fits Yuna really well. Her acting isn't always the greatest.

In the original game, it was generally her delivery that was off at times. She's improved in subsequent roles as Yuna.

Depends how awkward you think Yuna should be. It's kinda why I think it "fits" but yeah it may possibly be bad acting in a sense because I don't like Yuna that much and might like her a bit more with different delivery

But if she's meant to be that awkward (and I'm not fully convinced she isn't) it works.

Well, even if it's meant to be awkward and shy (which would generally be fine), it still sounds kind of stilted at times. In particular, her speech to the Maesters before they throw her into Via Purifico is rough.

Fun comparison numbers:

If Alucard = Yuna, Peach beats Godot with 65.45%

If Alucard = Kefka, Peach beats L-Block with 54.66%

If Kefka = Yuna, L-Block beats Godot with 61.94%

Yeah FFX's problem wasn't the VAs, it was the awkward lip syncing

Any chance that L-Block can get Kefka down to 53% before the end or has that ship sailed?

that ship sailed approximately 30 seconds into the match

ugh my 4 match parlay looks so good aside from that one. Who tf set Kefka at -6?!

That's... a very good question actually.

Come to think of it, I'd probably take Yuna in a 1v1 eith tidus at this point.

Tidus and Yuna have looked to be about the same strength for a really long time. I don't know that Yuna would've done noticeably better or worse against DK than Tidus did, really.

This guy covers the voice acting issue in FFX better than I ever could.

He actually lives close to me and I offered to let him borrow my PS4 for a Final Fantasy 15 review, but he turned it down because his buddy got caught in one of the big Bahamas hurricanes last year and passed way. It pretty much turned him off from gaming, which is such a sad story. I really admire his writing so much.

54.18% is our closest match so far. Jeez.
