It's the first thing the series produced that managed to turn Knuckles being an idiot into a positive thing. And that's quite an accomplishment. |

Maybe I should check it out it's actually really good, it's very self-aware that it is a Sonic show and makes a lot of meta commentary on the fanbase in general it's just well-made. i didn't expect much from it but there were some episodes that had me holding my sides laughing. it's a shame it's probably cancelled. Match XXI: (3) Alucard vs. (14) Princess Peach Previous Contest Performance Alucard - 2013 Round 1: 36.32% against Captain Falcon (35.95%) and Rydia (27.73%) Round 2: 22.79% against Solid Snake (60.57%) and Bayonetta (16.64%) Princess Peach - 2013 Round 1: 17.01% against Kirby (46.44%) and Terra Branford (36.55%) Analysis This is one of my upset specials. When not going up against a Nintendo character, Peach actually does well. Her performances against Jill Valentine, Tifa and Gordon Freeman were quite good. She’s a lot like Pac-Man in that she gets a lot of apathy votes and as someone with little association (minus an assist trophy) with Nintendo Alucard is almost a perfect opponent for Peach. When constructing my bracket, I went with the assumption that Alucard is getting weaker. He’s been heading downwards for years. Him going even (albeit during the day) with Captain Falcon is a great example of him being weaker relative to years pasts. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate may have thrown a wrench into this, but I believe the boost will be more for the Belmonts than Alucard. It also helps that Nintendo characters have been doing well in these things so far. charmander6000’s Bracket: Princess Peach > Alucard charmander6000’s Prediction: Princess Peach wins, 53.73% - 46.27% Match XXII: (6) Yuna vs. (11) Godot Previous Contest Performance Yuna - 2013 Round 1: 40.49% against Master Chief (34.84%) and Claire Redfield (24.66%) Round 2: 25.00% against Tifa Lockheart (44.56%) and Dragonborn (30.43%) Godot - N/A N/A Analysis I know the board loves Phoenix Wright, but did we really need a third character? I don’t see Godot being any stronger than Miles Edgeworth and he was already quite weak. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he finishes within the bottom 10 of the x-stats. Though given that registered user’s votes count double perhaps Board 8 can prevent that. Yuna shouldn’t have any issue winning this match; she’s already looking at next round (and round 3 if she makes it). Final Fantasy stock is quite low right now, but she could be one of the few exceptions. Match XXIII: (7) Kefka vs. (10) L-Block Previous Contest Performance Kefka - 2013 Round 1: 37.82% against Zack Fair (32.59%) and Ryu Hayabusa (29.59%) Round 2: 41.93% against Altair (29.26%) and Lara Croft (28.82%) Round 3: 26.14% against Solid Snake (47.58%) and GlaDOS (26.28%) L-Block - 2013 Round 1: 60.70% against Palutena (26.85%) and Teemo (12.45%) Round 2: 40.99% against Auron (37.01%) and Ezio Auditore da Firenze (22.00%) Round 3: 24.49% against Samus Aran (41.70%) and Tifa Lockheart (33.81%) Analysis This is essentially a three-point match as the winner here will be a massive favourite next round. L-Block is the original joke character and he showed that he still has it in 2013. The difference however, is that this is 1v1 and in 2010 L-Block showed a drop in strength due to the non-joke vote not being split. However, L-Block showed that it’s a solid mid-carder which is why it has a great chance at winning here. As an aside, I’m not expecting a rally here, at this point the joke is stale and L-Block is pretty much a mainstay now. If there is one character that defies the Final Fantasy deboost it would be Kefka. While the other characters were showing signs of dropping in 2013 Kefka increased in strength. This is likely due to more people recognizing his artwork, thanks to Dissidia. Kefka also will have a bit of wiggle room to work with against L-Block so he could drop in strength and still win the match. charmander6000’s Bracket: Kefka > L-Block charmander6000’s Prediction: Kefka wins, 52.11% - 47.89% Match XXIV: (2) Kazuma Kiryu vs. (15) Bomberman Previous Contest Performance Kazuma Kiryu - N/A N/A Bomberman - 2013 Round 1: 23.30% against Ezio Auditore da Firenze (45.51%) and Miles “Tails” Prower (31.19%) Analysis It’s quite nice to see Yakuza characters making the bracket though I don’t see them having much strength. The series isn’t very attractive to GameFAQs and it only became mildly popular recently which means the old gamers of the site are less likely to have played the game. Yakuza also hasn’t done well in Game of the Year polls. It isn’t completely smooth sailing for Bomberman though. He had a poor showing in 2013 and in general he’s more or less fodder. Still, name recognition is huge given that voters have to vote in all four matches and it’s not like he’s horrible fodder either. Plus, you know, that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate boost everyone seems to be getting. You can feel good in that match by having submitted two identical brackets except the Kefka L-Block result. |
