honestly thought FF9 would boost because of the PS4 port, but I picked
Knuckles because he always dicks me over in debatable matches. Nice to

Vivi > Mario made Mario look bad more than anything, especially after Mega Man beat Charizard despite having a heavier anchor in the match. Vivi backed it up in round 1, at least though. Mario was at a pretty low point in 2013. 3D World was the 'big' Mario

would not read too much into Zidane's loss in relation to his game.
FFIX has certainly grown more beloved over time, even as FF in general
falls. But for whatever reason, Zidane has not been as beloved as his
game. Vivi has always been its most popular character. And much of the

don’t think Bowser gains anything. People like Bowsette for the porn
and novelty and it’s highly unlikely Bowsette shows up in a match pic. I
could be wrong though. Honestly really hoping Geralt is strong because I
like him a lot after playing Witcher 3 not too long ago |
Match XIII: (3) Yoshi vs. (14) Shantae Previous Contest Performance Yoshi - 2013 Round 1: 60.06% against Solaire of Astora (24.99%) and Demi-Fiend (14.96%) Round 2: 17.86% against Link (60.05%) and Raiden (22.09%) Shantae - N/A N/A Analysis Yoshi will be the big favourite here. He is one of the strongest characters in the main bracket and will be looking to win the division though with Zero and Pikachu it won’t be easy. Shantae has developed a cult following over the last few years and has a mild push for inclusion into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Personally, I don’t think it’s likely and in terms of this match if a lot of Shantae fans like Nintendo this could turn rather ugly. In fact, I imagine this could be among the larger blowouts of the contest. charmander6000’s Bracket: Yoshi > Shantae charmander6000’s Prediction: Yoshi wins, 82.45% - 17.55% Match XIV: (6) Velvet Crowe vs. (11) James Sunderland Previous Contest Performance Velvet Crowe - N/A N/A James Sunderland - N/A N/A Analysis This is our first match where both characters are new, and I feel confident that both will be quite weak. Velvet is a Tales character which have a history of making the contest before getting crushed. I suspect the same, Berseria wasn’t a big hit and the game was released last year. Of course, she can still win this match. I’m glad James Sunderland finally made it to a contest, but I doubt he’ll be as strong as Pyramid Head who has shown to be weak in this contest. Overall Velvet may be “dat top (left) option,” but Silent Hill 2 was released in 2001 meaning people from Old ManFAQs may at least recognize him. charmander6000’s Bracket: James Sunderland > Velvet Crowe charmander6000’s Prediction: James Sunderland wins, 58.22% - 41.78% CBX - Today's Winners: Zero, Zidane, Noctis, Wario Score: 7/8 |
Match XV: (7) Pikachu vs. (10) Scorpion Previous Contest Performance Pikachu - 2013 Round 1: 52.93% against Lloyd Irving (23.62%) and Big Daddy (23.45%) Round 2: 47.07% against Crono (40.42%) and Magus (12.51%) Round 3: 40.28% against Sora (39.96%) and Pokemon Trainer Blue (19.76%) Round 4: 25.60% against Solid Snake (51.12%) and Squirtle (23.29%) Scorpion - 2013 Round 1: 35.00% against Sora (46.81%) and Aya Brea (18.18%) Analysis After a great 2013 the Pokemon have returned with debate as to whether they are frauds. I guess it comes down to whether you believe they are noble nine breakers. I think most people don’t expect that they are, but they do believe that they have some strength. My impression is that Pokemon will have a down year, they aren’t as big on GameFAQs relative to 2013. With that said, Pikachu shouldn’t have too much issue winning. While Scorpion has strength it’s nothing that should worry a high mid-carder character. At the very least the match will give us a lot of information as to the chances Pikachu has at winning this division. charmander6000’s Bracket: Pikachu > Scorpion charmander6000’s Prediction: Pikachu wins, 62.44% - 37.56% Match XVI: (2) Kratos vs. (15) John Marston Previous Contest Performance Kratos - 2013 Round 1: 50.29% against Recette Lemongrass (25.28%) and Travis Touchdown (24.43%) Round 2: 20.25% against Mega Man (56.67%) and Jill Valentine (23.08%) John Marston - 2013 Round 1: 27.13% against Zelda (61.63%) and Sackboy (11.24%) Analysis I was not impressed with Kratos in 2013. In general, a lot of the mid 2000s characters had a bad contest that year. Since then Kratos had a new God of War game which was well liked. Whether that will help him on GameFAQs is debatable though. It should be enough to defeat John Marston. Red Dead Redemption isn’t a GameFAQs game. It did okay during the 2015 games contest, but it was nothing special. I'm
expecting Pikachu to fall below 66% before this match ends and avoid a
doubling, because Scorpion getting doubled by Pikachu is absolutely
bonkers to think about. Scorpion is an average midcarder in these
contests and I don't see Pikachu having quite enough strength to finish
