what little fanbase there is for Overwatch on this site most likely
split their noms among Tracer, D.Va and whoever else because everyone

can't say for certain how big it is overall, but there are tons of
peripheral Overwatch fans that don't even play the game. They're part of
the fandom for the short films and comics, the fanart, cosplay, the

WoW, ect) and both the mega rallies were surprises (round 1 of course). The fact the Monika rally seems almost expected makes me think it won't happen |

I checked the archives and Transience did mention the possibility of rallying in the analysis so I guess it was not 100% unexpected. Still this expectation is way more than Undertale back then, between the lead up in the stat topics, everyone in the crew considering it and even talks about it on The Show. Match IX: (1) Zero vs. (16) Primrose Previous Contest Performance Zero - 2013 Round 1: 58.58% against Kratos Aurion (20.72%) and Boko (20.70%) Round 2: 41.72% against Rikku (29.43%) and Weighted Companion Cube (28.85%) Round 3: 19.62% against Mega Man (40.21%) and Charizard (40.17%) Primrose - N/A N/A Analysis If there’s a game that would buck the trend of GameFAQs not playing new games Octopath seems to be a good candidate. It is an RPG made by Square after all. Primrose will however, have the same issues as Final Fantasy VI characters, namely she is from an ensemble cast. Characters from an ensemble cast tend to do relatively poorly due to the fanbase being split as to which one is their favourite. Regardless Zero should have no issue winning this match. He is among one of the strongest characters in the main bracket and while we won’t get much information on him this round he wants to make a good impression in his bid to win the division. charmander6000’s Bracket: Zero > Primrose charmander6000’s Prediction: Zero wins, 74.11% - 25.89% Match X: (8) Zidane Tribal vs. (9) Knuckles the Echidna Previous Contest Performance Zidane Tribal - 2013 Round 1: 51.50% against Ridley (43.23%) and Spring Breeze Dancin’ (5.26%) Round 2: 24.37% against Squritle (44.08%) and Dante (31.55%) Knuckles the Echidna - 2013 Round 1: 46.21% against Celes Chere (30.59%) and Seifer Almasy (23.20%) Round 2: 21.33% against Samus Aran (61.85%) and Catherine (16.82%) Analysis I struggled with this match for a long time. On one hand, Zidane hasn’t done anything impressive in his contest career, but Knuckles has dropped quite a bit since his high in 2005. In 2013 he got 46% against two Square fodder characters and in 2010 he was lucky enough to get a day match to defeat Cecil. My confidence in the Echidna is quite low right now. While Zidane hasn’t done anything impressive he also hasn’t performed poorly. Match XI: (5) Noctis Lucis Caelum vs. (12) Master Hand Previous Contest Performance Noctis Lucis Caelum - N/A N/A Master Hand - 2005 Villains Round 1: 53.76% against Kuja (46.24%) Round 2: 40.50% against Dr. Robotnik (59.50%) Analysis Who else had Maser Hand/Kuja flashbacks when they saw this match? Master Hand is our first returning character who did not partake in 2013, in fact we haven’t seen him since the villains contest. For good reason too. He may have defeated Kuja, but he easily lost to Dr. Robotnik in the second round, the glove is fodder. I also don’t expect him to be much stronger since 2005. He can take a bit of solace of Robotnik’s performance in 2013 and if that somehow holds up over all these years the hand would be high fodder. Noctis is no Kuja either. Kuja was the villain of a Final Fantasy that GameFAQs didn’t flock to until years later. GameFAQs may not play many new games, but I imagine Final Fantasy XV would be an exception. If not, then there is no hope for characters created this generation, barring rallies. charmander6000’s Bracket: Noctis Lucis Caelum > Master Hand charmander6000’s Prediction: Noctis Lucis Caelum wins, 62.92% - 37.08% Match XII: (4) Monika vs. (13) Wario Previous Contest Performance Monika - N/A N/A Wario - 2013 Round 1: 49.66% against Creeper (28.80%) and The King of All Cosmos (21.54%) Round 2: 21.12% against Pokemon Trainer Red (51.58%) and Urdnot Wrex (27.30%) Analysis Wario is nothing special, but on paper he should be the massive favourite in this match. Monika is a character from a new game that GameFAQs is not interested in playing. The game was crushed by Cuphead during the Game of the Year poll and we just saw him getting crushed yesterday. To be honest if things go smoothly Wario could be pushing for 70%. Of course, we must consider rallies. Monika is our first character with the potential to be a rally magnet. In fact, the reddit page for the game already has a banner and given our vote total it won’t take too much to push her over the edge. The question is will it be enough? If it is just the reddit page, probably not. The active user base is quite small and even with a pinned post it may not be enough. With that said it could also be a banner announcement which is worse since it’s camouflaged on the page. Of course, the rest of the internet exists and all it takes is one huge person to tweet or post about it for this to take off. Wario is lucky that the height of the game has passed, but there is still a lot of people that liked the game when it was popular. My prediction will be based on minimal rallying, but it is very possible that Monika will pick up enough votes to win it. So it seems the banner for the match in the DDLC subreddit only shows for people who are browsing Old Reddit. Apparently the sub endorses the old version over the new one so I expect the majority of regulars to use Old Reddit and see the banner, but this could reduce the strength of the rally. |

don't think this will have any influence at all (as in a winning rally
will not lose due to the Reddit design mode), but as far as I can see,
the majority of people do not use the new one but the old one (and I
would agree, the new one is ugly). Of course, could simply be a case of complainers being louder. |

The final match of the Years contest broke 20000 votes and that was without the registered user bonus. We're already getting about 17000-18000 votes early on and that's with the forced voting in all 4 matches. We already saw an increase in vote totals when going from 4 matches per day to 2 matches per day in the 2015 contest. And the Years contest saw an increase in vote totals going from 2 matches per day to 1 match per day.
