The new additions go from 396 to 410. The first 395 were added last week.

Since Metal Sonic is allowed, is it time to revisit Dark Samus and Dark Link?

Metal Sonic is not the same thing as Dark Link, so I don't think it would change anything there.

Dark Samus is in Ultimate now as a separate character though, so that should take care of eligibility issues.

Metal Sonic is a completely different character, he talks in the comics and s*** and everything. he's got a lot of personality in Mania Adventures too, although the entire cast is silent in that

Dark Link kind of isn't, but I'd still say he counts. I think he's got less "presence" as a character, you're just in the Water Temple and then all of a sudden he comes out and there's some cheesy NOW FIGHT YOURSELF!!! text prompt, but I don't think allen gives a s*** anymore

Dark Link is also the final boss of Zelda 2.

Dark Samus is Metroid Prime, the final boss from the first game of that series, whose main ability is copying features of machines to form an exoskeleton. After Samus beats it in the first game, it does exactly that with her armor, and returns as an evil alien version of Samus.

So it is a different entity.

Dark Link is just an evil version of Link though. I'd honestly consider it more akin to allowing Toon Link than Metal Sonic.

regardless of where you stand on Dark Link I really don't think Allen cares anymore, he's bending the rules already to get Geralt and Hitler in, why not Dark Link?

i still can't believe that BJ vs Hitler got enough support that it was actually allowed on the front page

Allen sat there looking at the noms and was like "hmmm yeah ok, hitler" but was like "mario vs sonic? naaaaah"

Hitler is weird because the justification for why he was allowed - that he's not like the real Hitler - was in total contradiction to his actual appeal to most (or at least a pretty large chunk) of his voters - that being that he was like the real Hitler and yay let's offend people!

Hitler is a stupid example bro.

Oh yeah forgot about that.

I asked because Crono at least has a remote excuse for his loss to Pikachu in 2013, while Sora lost to Pikachu when another Pokemon character was in the poll too.

Sora just seems to be in that weird spot where his seeding suggests he's one of the top dogs, then he goes out and confirms himself as "just elite". The only contests Sora really looked particularly great in were the ones taking place in the years immediately following KH2.

I was wondering if RE4 would be able to beat KH2 more easily in a rematch now, but uh.

Crono would be able to beat Thanos. He's died before, wouldn't be that hard to do it again.

Not really, his friends mistook him for a doll, he was fine all along.

Time travel is the only way to beat Thanos if you're on a lower power level anyway.

Well, if Aqua has at least 100 votes based on the Guru and it can get in with a decent seeding, I think trading 15 characters plus the ones from casual folks may be a good investment after all.

Well, if they've done enough to get in the database, it means a decent number of people have nominated them, so it's certainly better than nothing.

I wonder how lucrative keeping a rally going in on the first page might actually be with this many max nominations. I wonder how many casuals would start nominating their favorites, run out of ideas at about 10 or so, and would actually click on the board and see some of these rallies based on the topic titles and bite on them until they get to 20.

i'm hoping getting Metal Sonic into the database will secure him a ton of noms from people nominating Sonic and friends and seeing Metal Sonic suggested

On a side note I've been re-reading all the contest match analyses, and oh my what a ride Spring 2004 must have been. I read through everything from FF7/Xenogears on in one sitting! Usually I just read 8 or sometimes 16 matches.
