Fallout 4 got more votes than the Nintendo entries combined and also strikes me as way more likely to overlap with Witcher 3 than Nintendo with Undertale due to both Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 being big-budget PS4/Xbone/PC open-world western RPGs.

Yeah but Fallout 4 is in both polls. You may be totally right but my point is that you can't use the final poll as the be-all end-all.

The point is that Undertale fans probably moved on already. Melee fans seem incapaable of doing that.

Undertale would still have to climb a long ways in popularity to go from 37% on Mass Effect 3 to being equal with Witcher 3.

I mean, I'm sure it's more popular now just due to the exposure it got from 2015, but I wouldn't give it quite that much credit.

I disagree! What the final poll tells me is that unrallied Undertale has a lot of overlap with Nintendo, which makes sense.

Multiplatform games tend to do significantly worse in the individual console polls compared to the overall poll. It seems like voters take the poll question into account so in the PC poll Witcher 3 will get limited support from people who played the game on Xbox One or PS4.

I’m a Melee fan and happily moved on. Smash 4 was great. Ultimate is going to be amazing. Brawl and only Brawl sucked.

I will note here that after last EVO, Smash fans are my new #1 for worst fanbase in the world. Worse than wrestling, Sonic, Star Wars, Magic the Gathering or anything else. These people sent threats to a 16 year old kid after walking out of the final because they don’t like that Beyonetta was used. f***ing pond scum wastes of life.

Eh I can bet that kind of stuff has been done at least once in all the fanbases you mentioned.

Joker, 2B, Geralt, and Noctis are the only ones who have the potential not to be fodder without a rally out of that list.

Geralt might not even be eligible.

I think you're underestimating Inkling and Cuphead.

I don't have much confidence in a generic Splatoon character or an indie game character, but maybe I'm wrong.

I'd give Monika a bit of credit - the GOTY polls showed that DDLC at least has a decent playrate here.

I don't think finishing a very distant second in an Indie Game GOTY poll with bad vote totals says it has a decent playrate. It got less than 1500 votes.

Do we have an official ruling on Geralt's eligibility?

Unlike certain other franchises' characters *coughDragonBallcough*, Geralt's strength is almost entirely unrelated to his non-gaming source material.

Huh, I forgot about the indie poll. I only remembered how it came close to winning the PC poll.

Ophilia is an odd choice. Also, I had to look this up as well, nominators will have trouble spelling her name right.

Also, I have zero expectations of Ophelia. I just put her there because her game is recent and it's right up the site's alley, so I wouldn't be surprised if she made it.

uhhh I think Noctis because of recency and the fact that his game gets massive free updates and Square still pushes him even though 15 has been out for a while

13 as a franchise is dead and the games are seen universally as "eh" now, a lot of people are down on XIII itself in particular

that said I have no f***ing clue it could go either way IMO, gamefaqs is fickle with its FF protags

I noticed this feature was removed from the homepage on August 2nd:

It was a feature that made it easier for mobile users to jump to the poll on the homepage. The removal of that feature from the homepage appears to explain the slight drop off in vote totals after August 2nd, since mobile users no longer have an easy way to navigate to the poll. As of right now, mobile users have to scroll down quite a ways to reach the poll. This isn't a problem for desktop/laptop users since the larger screen allows for the poll to still be displayed near the top of their screen.

anti-rally measures have begun

The removal of a feature that allowed mobile users to navigate to the poll easier wouldn't be considered an anti-rally measure. Besides, that only affects a small segment of the site visitors. Not to mention, the contest matches would have been displayed at the top of the homepage for everyone, so mobile users wouldn't have to scroll down quite a bit to find the matches.

We had an original Zelda poll just last year on this same date, and another one the year before though not on the same date.

I'm guessing SBAllen really likes Zelda 1 and Xenogears.

Main character of the Mission: Impossible movies.

I asked because Mission: Impossible is a much more relevant franchise than Ninja Gaiden right now - with a lot of movie characters you can't really say that. Like, Die Hard hasn't been a particularly relevant franchise since the '90s, so it makes sense John McClane would be weak.
