mean Vincent did drop and probably would have lost to Mewtwo anyway,
but I doubt he loses to Phoenix without that terrible picture. |

Rallies
have a hard time running up the score. That's why a lot of rallied wins
tend to be just over 50%. Although, I think SSBM fans rallied against
Pokemon Gold/Silver last time so I don't think they are completely

let's say that the contest takes place before Smash 5 comes out (99% chance this is the case) if a character is just ANNOUNCED for Smash 5, will the hype give them a contest boost? like if Captain Toad is announced for Smash during the nom period and makes it in at a decent seed, can he ride recognizability and the SMASH 5 FEAR to a win or two? is there ANY potential Smash 5 newcomer that could get a sizable boost pre-Smash 5? Is this Elite Beat Agents 2? |

That
sort of happened to Ike during the 2007 contest, though he lost in the
first round. Sonic would have likely lost to Squall if it wasn't for it.
He went from 54.65% in round 1 to 65.41% and 65.70% in round 2 and 3

I don't think very many folks would take KOS-MOS over Marth these days. As crazy as it sounds, Vincent may have been around Phoenix's level regardless of the picture. Keep in mind that Phoenix (and Marth) may have been as strong as ever in 2013. And it makes it seem much more likely that Vincent wasn't SFFed by Sephiroth in the 2010 character contest. Would any of you take Vincent over Tifa these days? Time to throw a complicated party for the mighty prophet and seer BKSheikah! |
Nah, I'd roll with Tifa > Vincent nowadays. I'd have probably taken a chance on it way back when, too. |

Smash 4 likely helped Mega Man in 13. Serveral characters only got in the 07 and 08 contests due to Brawl. Ctesjbuvf posting on his phone. |

So how would people rank Square's former near-elites these days? I'd go: Auron Tifa Sora Squall Vincent I figure Kefka and Vivi at least give Sora and Squall a good scare these days (Vivi having of course already beaten Squall in 2013 but that may not have been a normal match), and there's quite a few other characters I'd be tempted to take over Vincent. Squall > Tifa > Auron > Sora > Vincent Both Sora and Vincent are no longer "near-elite" though that can change with KH3. Congratulations to BKSheikah for winning the guru |
Bit
late on Vincent, but in the adjusted 2013 stats I put together, Vincent
was above a Phoenix but not by much. He was definitely weak that year. Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |
You
need Vivi in there. VIvi didn't do so hot in the earlier four-ways
contests, so I think we ought to give Vivi the benefit of the doubt.
Plus, FFIX's greatly improved performance in 2015 only reinforces the
argument of Vivi 2013 being legit. Vincent probably doesn't deserve
"near-elite" status anymore... Squall Vivi Tifa Auron Sora Vincent I just can't put Tifa over Squall, despite her looking stronger in the previous contest. Auron losing to L-Block... I still can't believe that happened.... Edit: it is true that Vivi clearly benefitted from his round 2 upset... but he was 7 percentage points higher than Squall. Knuckles probably gained 5-6% on Squall after upsetting Magus... And I suppose it's possible that Vivi's upset took more notice to voters, due to the low vote totals....hmmm.... maybe I'll put Vivi below Squall, then. well Tifa and Auron have a direct comparison with L-Block in 2013 although I do think there was an L-Block rally or something in the Auron match but I don't recall I don't trust Sora against a strong FF character at all though, at least not to win. |
also I'm still upset that Vivi beat Mario because it meant Squall didn't get to seems like whenever he has a chance to make a breakthrough victory something gets in the way (edited 3/16/2018 5:57:26 PM) |

Based
on numbers, his peak year looks to be 2010, but that Charizard number
isn't totally reliable. He looked pretty strong in 2007 and 2008, too. |
Kratos probably is slightly stronger than your average western-game character. |

I'm
rather surprised that PUBG has a lower playrate than Fortnite.
Although I would blame that on PUBG only being available on Xbox One and
PC (and also Mobile, but this site wouldn't care about the Mobile
version) while Fortnite is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Although
I guess it doesn't help that PUBG was still an Early Access Steam title
at the time Fortnite came out and it took about 5 more months after the
release of Fortnite for PUBG to leave Early Access and also get an Xbox
