GameFAQs Contests
Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 1276
Yeah, Setzer's role in KH2 is a total non-factor. My reaction when I read BKSheikah won the Guru Contest: http://i2.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/080/145/638.png |
I think saying Setzer had a 'role' is giving his screentime too much credit. It's barely even a cameo. Better that than what they did to poor Vivi, though. Both in KH2 and World of FInal Fantasy. Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |
It would at least give Setzer a nice pic |
Locke is the dude who needs some new pics to help him out. |
Bump This was not the best year for my bracket. Congrats to BK_Sheikah00 for winning the BYIG Guru Contest! |
And here's to many more! Not_Wylvane |
So
it's been nearly 3 hours since Microsoft's press conference ended and
Allen didn't manually change the poll to put up a new poll related to
the press conference, like he did for the past 4 years (2013-2016).
This year is different since Microsoft's press conference fell on a
weekend and Allen doesn't usually like inserting a future poll into the
database on the weekend. I'd probably expect a manual poll change to
happen tomorrow immediately following Sony's press conference and then
another poll change after Nintendo's presentation. Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BK_Sheikah00, Guru Champ! |
Maybe he'll do the Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo poll on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. Congratulations to BKSheikah for winning the guru |
Tomorrow's
poll is going to be "How would you grade Microsoft's E3 Press
Conference?". It was inputted into the database around 55 minutes ago,
but it seems like Allen is going to start the poll at the normal 12:00
AM EST start time rather than putting up early (like he did in previous
years). Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BK_Sheikah00, Guru Champ! |
https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/6741- Oh wow, s***ty vote totals in this poll so far. I blame the Bethesda press conference (currently in progress right now) for the terrible vote totals during the early vote. If I assume the 132 votes during the board vote is actually legitimate, then this poll would be on track for less than 10000 votes. I don't think that's going to happen, even when considering that this poll will likely end earlier than usual (a poll close time between 10:20 PM and 10:50 PM) when Allen manually changes the poll immediately after the Sony press conference. I'm also surprised at how badly Microsoft is performing in this poll considering the overall quality of the game announcements. This performance is even worse than the 2015 version of this poll. Edit: Seems like the Bethesda press conference really did kill the early vote totals on today's poll, because there was a spike in votes after the press conference ended. So yeah, I'm expecting this poll to break 10000 votes today. Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BK_Sheikah00, Guru Champ! charmander6000 posted... Maybe he'll do the Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo poll on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. Looks like Allen's already set up the Sony poll for June 13th based on this: https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/6363- However, knowing Allen, he'll manually start that poll within 5 minutes of Sony's press conference coming to an end rather than waiting until 12:00 AM EST. So the poll start time will fall somewhere between 10:20 PM and 10:50 PM. Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BK_Sheikah00, Guru Champ! |

So
it's been almost 15 minutes since the Sony press conference ended and
no manual poll change yet. Unless there's a poll change very soon
(within the next 10 minutes or so), I'm going to assume that Allen will
allow the next poll to start at its normal time of 12:00 AM. With Nintendo's presentation tomorrow, that is only about 30 minutes long and will end around 12:30 PM. If there is a manual poll change during this year's E3, it'll probably happen tomorrow in the middle of the day. BlAcK TuRtLe posted... Im thinking Rabbids might be a surprise force in the next contest, after seeing that crappy Mario game that people on GameFAQs will likely eat up Depends on whether the next contest is a Games Contest or a Character Battle. I think the game will be too old by the time we have another contest for the game or the characters to get rallied. Even then, it's all dependent on the game being the source of many memes and jokes on places like Tumblr to have any rally potential. if rabbids don't end up in the bottom 10 of the x-stats of any contest they appear in i will genuinely be very disappointed Life is good. BKSheikah has had many years better than mine. |
Even
ignoring rallying I don't see why they would finish in the bottom 10.
That's usually reserved for characters very few people have heard of. Congratulations to BKSheikah for winning the guru |
or things people hate and the Rabbids probably qualify for this site |
They're pretty meme-y, which no doubt attracts trolly people. Congratulations to BKSheikah for winning the guru |
expecting Rabbids to do well feels like when people thought Red Bird could do something in CBIX you need more than a desire to troll this site to have an effective rally |

Finally got done with poll updates and trend charts for the past 4 polls. Poll updates and trend charts from the day of Microsoft's press conference: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lpDXYTPBKgc0TI7mWgUz0Xmrn65aAVuPndT6cWRKHsQ/pub?gid=1195119003 This one turned out to be a normal 24 hour poll, since Allen chose to not put up a new poll after Microsoft's press conference ended. But we did get to see some interesting trends here. The Microsoft press conference did cause a slight drop off in vote totals while the press conference was in progress, but it had a far smaller impact than we've normally seen in the past. This can be blamed on people being less interested in Microsoft these days. Hell, even Bethesda's press conference gets more hype on this site than Microsoft even though it's not part of the big three. "Yes, an Xbox One" had fairly stable trends for most of the poll. After Microsoft's press conference ended, there is a very clear increase in performance for "Yes, an Xbox One". I thought this trend change was very notable because it shows people were more impressed by Microsoft's press conference than the next poll would actually suggest. This trend change represents a new type of trends called "situational trends", in which poll trends are strongly influenced by specific events such as a press conference or a Super Bowl game. We already have Geolocation trends, Age based trends, and Time based trends, but none of those actually apply to the trend changes seen in this poll. "Yes, a PlayStation 4" had its trends affected by the press conference as it dropped off rather hard while the press conference was in progress and even had some terrible hours after the press conference ended. "No, not convincing me" was overall fairly consistent throughout the day. It did perform better during the Microsoft press conference, but it wasn't a huge spike or anything. Poll updates and trend charts from the day of Sony's press conference: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16ssZ-HxXmLbkrX_hjAi08ehi5Z_jS2rkZhZ2mfyBhFY/pub?gid=1 The poll started at the same time that Bethesda's press conference began, so we got terrible vote totals at the start of the poll. There was a noticeable spike in vote totals after the 12:40 AM update, which was around the time the Bethesda press conference ended. When the press conference ended, this affected the trends. "D - Bad" and "F - Terrible" both dropped off in percentage after the press conference ended, while "B - Good job" and "C - Okay" both went up in percentage. This trend change suggests the viewership of Bethesda's press conference favors Microsoft more than Sony. Sony's press conference during this poll had a far more noticeable impact on vote totals while the press conference was in progress, showing us that people care a lot more about Sony's press conference than Microsoft's in the current era of GameFAQs where Microsoft is a lot more hated now. The effect of the Sony press conference on trends was somewhat unexpected, with "D - Bad" and "F- Terrible" performing better during the press conference while "B - Good job" and "C - Okay" dropped off here. Usually, it would be the opposite as the Sony people are more likely to hate Microsoft and they're busy watching the Sony press conference. Trend charts from both of yesterday's polls will be posted later today. Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as BK_Sheikah00, Guru Champ! Poll updates and trend charts from the night poll on the day of Nintendo's presentation: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qHes8SH5jVEuuyk_FzMaEEm0SwDwdJK3uRgAanMGAe0/pub?gid=1 The poll ran for a total of 12 hours, 30 minutes until being closed manually at 12:30 PM EST. Since this poll ended at 12:30 PM, there was no ASV or SNV in the trend charts. The vote totals from this poll suggest this poll would have gotten about 11500 votes in a normal 24 hour poll. "D - Bad" had its best hour of the poll during the Power Hour. Other than the Power Hour and the hour that had the Nintendo presentation, there isn't really any notable trends here. The effect of the Nintendo presentation on the trends is a bit odd. "B - Good job" and "F - Terrible" both had their best hour of the poll during the Nintendo presentation, while "A - Outstanding" and "D - Bad" had their worst hour during this time. Poll updates and trend charts from the day poll on the day of Nintendo's presentation: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ig0j3B86N8NYPfqZ1e6iWBmlmZvo_6Xv-IyNLIzuGMk/pub?gid=1 This poll started at 12:30 PM EST and ran for 11 hours, 30 minutes. The vote totals in this poll suggest this poll would have gotten about 12000 votes in a normal 24 hour poll. For the trend charts, the Power Hour runs from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. DSV runs from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, while there's no change in how the ASV and SNV are handled like they normally would be. The only real trend in this poll was the board vote, where "C - Okay" and "F - Awful" performed best, while "A - Outstanding" and "B - Pretty good" performed worst during that time period. After the Nintendo presentation, the Treehouse Live stream started off showing Super Mario Odyssey (which was the last game shown in the Nintendo presentation) and people might have stuck around and continued watching the stream to see more Super Mario Odyssey after the Nintendo presentation was already over with. That theory makes sense since there was a spike in vote totals after 12:50 PM, around the time that Treehouse Live stopped showing gameplay from Super Mario Odyssey to take a break for several minutes. Other than the early vote, there weren't really any other noticeable trends for the rest of the poll. This certainly is a GameFAQs poll. (But one I agree with so hell yeah) Not_Wylvane |
https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/6745- Today's poll is quite interesting because the top 2 games winning this poll are games where no information about the games were revealed, other than the fact both are currently in development. I think that speaks to the franchise power of these 2 games. Pokemon as a franchise is stronger than Metroid. At least I'd pick Pokemon over Metroid today, a reversal of the 2006 Series Contest match. Metroid Prime 4 is only winning this poll based on hype, and also the fact that there hasn't been a good Metroid game since Metroid Prime 3 in 2007. Pokemon has had several mainline games since 2007, so there isn't as much hype for a Switch mainline game. The Switch mainline game will have the advantage of being on a console for the first time, which could be just the extra push it needs to win GotY on this site. If Metroid Prime 4 comes out in the same year as Pokemon for Switch, it'll be a lot harder for Pokemon to win GotY on the site. Anyone
else think Odyssey would make a GotY run if BotW weren't around? I
think it'd be between it, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Persona 5. Not_Wylvane |
Assuming it lives up to the hype SMO would have definitely won. What's the strongest game to have not won the GotY? Congratulations to BKSheikah for winning the guru |
Depends on whether you mean strongest now or strongest at the time of the poll. Now would be Melee. At the time of the poll would be MGS4. [NO BARKLEY NO PEACE] [NO BKSheikah NO PEACE] |

https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/6747- https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/6744- I'm rather surprised Nintendo is crushing this poll so badly when the Switch could barely get over 61% on the PS4 in the second poll. Nintendo is currently putting up 82.15% on Sony (as of 12:20 AM) despite the Switch getting only 61.36% on the PS4 in a poll from 3 days ago. This year's E3 isn't quite up to the same level of disappointment compared to 2012, where the "Nobody" option was the overall winner with 27.47%. This year's E3 at least had one amazing press conference to otherwise prevent this year's E3 from being worse than 2012. https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/6750- Damn, today's poll is an ownership poll for Final Fantasy Tactics, so it's useless for figuring out the playrate. None of the options provide any way to sort out the people who have played it and who haven't. Since it's technically possible for someone to own the game, but not play it. And it doesn't factor in people who played the game without ever owning it (like playing a friend's copy of the game). abdou posted... how many people have owned the FFT disc for decades without playing it at all? i am going to guess a very small percentage! It's probably a very small percentage as you said, but ownership polls like this almost never factor in the possibility of someone playing the game without ever owning the disc/cartridge. This can happen if you played a friend's copy of the game. Last year, we had an ownership poll and a playrate poll for FFVII in the same year, allowing us to see the difference between the two polls. https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/6227- https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/6448- If we assume FFVII's playrate at the time of the ownership poll was identical to the actual playrate poll later in the year, the difference between the ownership rate and playrate was 4.54%. This difference can't exactly be applied to other games besides FFVII to adjust the ownership rate for the purpose of figuring out the playrate.
