Was undecided on which year to vote for, then Golden Sun came up in 2001 and I got nostalgia bombed. Advance Wars and MGS2 were icing on the cake.
Black Turtle did a pretty good job.

Don't worry, it will face 98 with the top line being Banjo and Panzeer Dragoon Saga.

Everyone with a score of 2 or less got the match wrong.

The top brackets knew what was up. Only one person in the top 99 picked against 1998. Prediction percentage would not fall below 90% until the -9s (39 points).

No one on the Top 50 was crazy enough to pick against 1998 so no one fell off. I think this is the first time this has happened in this contest.
My bracket got smashed by DpObliVion.

"Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun. So... what is a party?"
"Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think."
There is no reason for FFVII to be in the pic taking up valuable real estate that could instead go to Colony Wars.

Diddy Kong Racing is still one of the best selling N64 games, and even gets more love than Mario Kart 64 from some circles. I don't think it replacing Mario Kart 64 is a major deal, but GoldenEye should definitely be there.

Ugh I stand corrected
2001 was a solid all around year for gaming. Each console had its own killer app (FFX, MGS2, and GTA for PS2, Melee for GCN, Halo for Xbox), which can't be said about many other years. 97's very Sony heavy which hurts it a lot.

I lowered by Oracle by seven points after seeing FF7's match pic.

Ma, there's no way 1995 would get 70% on 1996.

The hilarious thing is that 1987 could end up almost equal with 1997 in the stats if 2001 keeps this up.
