Would anyone be able to challenge Auron in a Supporting Cast Contest? Many years ago I would have said Vincent was the favourite but time has not been kind to him.
My bracket got smashed by DpObliVion.
Congrats to DpObliVion for winning the BGE15 Guru Contest!

I'd give Tifa or Zelda a great shot, too.

Barring rallies, of course.
Maybe Tifa. I guess Charizard/Pikachu etc. would have a good chance too

What about Luigi and Yoshi, would they be considered supporting characters despite being the main character in other games?

I think this is where the definition of "supporting cast" comes into play. Is Zelda a supporting character? The series is named after her and I'd argue she's a main character in games like Spirit Tracks but is a supporting character in say Majora's Mask.
Luigi is a tricky one but Id call him supporting

I think Pokemon would fall into a grey area regarding if they count as a supporting character or not.

Allen with no regard for anyone else's bracket
I'd say 2001 is hampered a bit for losing Halo, but it finally got MGS2 and DMC. This is probably as strong a lineup as it got last round. 97 got straight up nerfed.
surely allen has 97 advancing?

Nope, he stated earlier in this topic he has 2001 winning.

deliberate sabotage
I think Allen said he has 2001.

lol
Love that Paper Mario pic.
DpObliVion has fought mudcrabs more fearsome than my bracket!
I mean, I can see pic factor decreasing in importance throughout the rounds, since people who've been voting in the contest will know that Goldeneye came out in 1997 by now (probably). But we'll have to see how this goes.

2001
Losses: Halo, Silent Hill 2, Zelda: OoA/S, Conker
Gains: MGS2, DMC, Advance Wars, Golden Sun

Thoughts: Improvement

1997
Losses: Goldeneye, Mario Kart 64, Turok, PaRappa
Gains: Diddy Kong Racing, Harvest Moon, Age of Empires, Tekken 3

Thoughts: LOL
LeonhartFour 5/19/2017 8:25:11 PM#223
if 1997 loses because we swapped MK64 for friggin' Diddy Kong Racing that would be insult to injury
Yes why mention the inexplicable snubbing of Goldeneye when you can take a swipe at DKC.
LeonhartFour 5/19/2017 8:29:29 PM#225
I would never take a swipe at DKC

DKR on the other hand I will take many swipes at

MK64 forever

also is there a reason why I have to mention GoldenEye

Are there actually people who think MK64's single player was better than DKR's?
All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
I think general arguments is that Mario Kart had the better designed courses while DKR had a lot of advancements and bells and whistles.

I can't remember MK64 courses but honestly... I dunno how many gamers are out there who can break down what a well designed cart race track even is. I think people just prefer the one their parents bought for them.

there are people who think MK64 is more iconic than DKR therefore more useful to this contest

MK64 is loads more popular than DKR, so yes, it would be much more "useful" to 1997's chances.

I didn't really enjoy DKR's weird single player mode, so yeah.
2001
Final Fantasy X / Grand Theft Auto III
Super Smash Bros. Melee / Metal Gear Solid 2
Paper Mario / Golden Sun
Advance Wars / Devil May Cry

1997
Final Fantasy VII / Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Diddy Kong Racing / Age of Empires
Harvest Moon / Tekken 3
Star Fox 64 / Fallout

With the exception of maybe flipping their first two rotations 2001 pretty much has its best case scenario. 1997 lost two out of its four strongest games and 2001 easily wins rotations 2-4.

Final Fantasy VII / Castlevania: Symphony of the Night vs. Chrono Trigger / Earthbound, who wins?

Add the fact that 2001 has a stronger line-up relative to last round and I'm back on the 2001 train.

MK64 > DKR in terms of contest strength, yes

But DKR is also the strongest of the four games that 97 got subbed in. Harvest Moon, Tekken 3, and Age of Empires are all more unbelievable additions.
Someone is biased towards 2001 lol.
LeonhartFour 5/19/2017 8:35:18 PM#233
Yes, the other three are much worse. You could do worse than DKR, and 1997 in fact did.

The worst part is, I knew this would happen and I warned everyone in The Show topic about this possibility. But I didn't think it would be this bad.

I just love the fact that I could lose $1000 and the guru because of match pics. So great!

BTW, in the last contest, I would've won the guru if Chrono Trigger would've beaten Melee and FF7. I was pretty salty after that rally, and now this... Hopefully FF7/SOTN still have enough strength to pull this off.
