GameFAQs Contests
Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 1272
Go 95! At least go down swinging! I don't expect this lead to last but I was expecting 95 to be crushed out of the gate. Blop |
woot made it on the leaderboard. First time since 2003. Dilated Chemist DpObliVion is the one true king of Guru's. |
If
1995 pulls it off it seems like it would be pretty definitive evidence
that pics really matter in this contest given how bad 95 looked last
round. Ralliers' determination can't even hold a birthday candle to the blazing flame of DpOblivion's winning spirit! |
Why
is CT not listed on the front left? Probably won't make too big of a
difference but I would think the most popular game for each year would
be the first listed. |
So, do we believe in pic factor now? Because I don't think this is the same 95 we saw in the last two rounds. Agent Triple Zero at your service! This line reserved for 2017 Guru champion. |
1995 manages to hang on until the freeze. Next update will be interesting. |
LordoftheMorons posted... If 1995 pulls it off it seems like it would be pretty definitive evidence that pics really matter in this contest given how bad 95 looked last round. Or 1987 could just be legit. |
1991 > 1994 and I believe it won't be a toss up. I'm actually predicting 1991 to get around 60% or even 65%. "A strong man doesn't need to read the future, he makes his own." - Solid Snake |
Was anyone sincerely doubting the effect that pics could have in this contest? Yoblazer http://i.imgur.com/gByqgPg.gif |
Both
years have pretty fair match order of match pics. I would give 2001 a
slight advantage in that, because Twisted Metal and Command &
Conquer aren't all that strong there . MGS2 has still been snubbed.... "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun. So... what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |
Did anyone submit a Playstation picture or are consoles getting snubbed again? Best Year in Gaming - Today's Winner: 2001 Current Bracket Score: 33/36 |
CaptainOfCrush posted... Was anyone sincerely doubting the effect that pics could have in this contest? There were a couple people taking the "smart voter" theory a little too far (and more admitting it was a factor, but doubting it could swing a ten point match like 2006/2011) Ralliers' determination can't even hold a birthday candle to the blazing flame of DpOblivion's winning spirit! Also,
no consoles appeared in the match pictures for either year, so Allen
might snub them again despite user submissions for consoles. Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as DpObliVion, Guru Champ! |

charmander6000 posted... Did anyone submit a Playstation picture or are consoles getting snubbed again? You can see how many pics were submitted in the form. Last I checked, the PlayStation had four (though it's actually three, as one of them was my pic for GameFAQs itself). Agent Triple Zero at your service! This line reserved for 2017 Guru champion. |
The
only contests I make the leaderboard on are the massive contests....
I've made plenty of appearances in 2007, 2008, and 2015... maybe 2013,
too. I didn't make a bracket for 2010. But a smaller contest? Never. "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun. So... what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |

95 stalling, oh boy. Wow 87 was a monster this whole time or is the pic factor even more extreme then I could of had imagined Blop |
1995 is looking good, but I would surprised if it didn't lose at least 5% between now and the end. "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun. So... what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |
Chrono Trigger! Do not go gentle into that good night, rage, rage against the dying of the light. September 1, 2003; November 4, 2007; September 2, 2013 Congratulations to DP Oblivion in the Guru Contest! |
The
updater has an incorrect update for the freeze. The actual freeze
happened at 278 votes, but the updater picked up an update with 280
votes at the 12:05 AM mark. The real freeze is the 12:06 AM update
picked up by the updater. Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as DpObliVion, Guru Champ! |

Is
1995 supposed to have the Board Vote? 2001 should be the massive
bracket favourite. 2001 might not have Chrono Trigger but it has a lot
of games that are popular on the board as well. My bracket got smashed by DpObliVion. Congrats to DpObliVion for winning the BGE15 Guru Contest! |
With the vastly improved pics, hopefully we will see increased vote totals. "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun. So... what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |
well looks like the dream ends tonight people die and Yuna dances 2 line break(s), 160 characters allowed |
Trends
tonight could be interesting. FFX and SSBM have about as diametrically
opposite trends as 2 games can get. I guess 2001 will be pretty middle
of the road. September 1, 2003; November 4, 2007; September 2, 2013 Congratulations to DP Oblivion in the Guru Contest! |

Surprised to see 1995 holding so far, no way it keeps this up though. 2001 is just too stacked. DpObliVion, my hat is off to you. Welcome to the Guru Champions Club lol xstats |

Augh. MGS2 got snubbed again. 2001 isn't looking great. Chrono Trigger is a goddamn monster for being able to carry its year like this. Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |
95 gained! Wat!? Blop |
Bolto4 posted... 95 stalling, oh boy. I would put this on the pic factor being very extreme and showing what happens when you have Chrono Trigger and 3 fodder games vs. 4 NES games that were the first games in their series. Team Rocket Elite posted... Is 1995 supposed to have the Board Vote? 2001 should be the massive bracket favourite. 2001 might not have Chrono Trigger but it has a lot of games that are popular on the board as well. In Round 2, 1995 had an extremely impressive 57.85% prediction percentage, with the remaining 42.15% split between 1985/1986/1987. So it seems as though the site overall thought 1995 was going to win that match in their brackets, but pic factor led to a massive underperformance against 1987.
