Yeah, I'm not liking where this is going, especially since I started working on my DKC2 pic. :(

1995 is teetering.

At least I called it at the end of last night's podcast (why don't ya tune in!).

30 people fell off the Top 50. Former first place pokedude900, former second place Ringworm, metaIslug, SeabassDebeste, kdawg44333, lilbluelink, mikesmith1125, Viviff, Seddie1, Byuusetsu, Zephyr_Blayze, Zefarch, Alateia, AllstarJason, maclikescheeze, Captain_Sorzo, hockeyguy8, Kratos122333, Bkstunt_31, Haeravon, JakeTheJake, wingsofsatan, Smash_Master, lucariopikmin, TheCyborgNinja, TheRushDawg, GamersTavern, Smkvttslzzt, Lord_Dude and tyder21 did not have both 2003 and 2005 winning.

4 people get one match wrong and survive. Former second place Prankster928, Axl_Rose_85, jubu24 and WilliamGeesdorf had only one of 2003 or 2005 winning.

1995 isn't weaker than people expected; 1987 was just severely underrated.

Zelda. Metroid. Castlevania. Mega Man. If 1995 can eke out a win against these powerhouse franchises then I think that the contest future looks very bright for anyone who picked '95 to go deep.

If it were 1995 vs. 2001 with these match pics, 2001 would be stomping.

I should've stuck to my pre-contest 1987 guns. I would have looked like a genius. Well, as much as a person correctly predicting a GameFAQs Contest match can look like a genius.

1995 has extended it lead in two updates. I can't see 1987 quite pulling this off, but we may be in for a 52/48 match. At least my 1987 pick was respectable. Furthermore, 1985 isn't quite the joke most people thought it was.

1995 is being represented by one game on the front page. It may as well be called "the Chrono Trigger year." This wouldn't be happening if it got its half-decent support up there. I think everyone realizes that.

It's a little bit of both here. The NES didn't see much representation in the last contest, so it's really hard to say how well the system has held up around here, until possibly now.

50.17% had 2005, is that a new record?

Eh, 1987 is stalling it pretty hard. I won't say 1995 is out of the woods quite yet.

Not going to lie, I forgot the year had anything else besides Chrono Trigger. I just looked at the pics and voted. I would've voted for 95 if I had remembered Earthbound!

This is really unfortunate for 1995. I think it is failing because it was a powerful year for the SNES but is only represented by Chrono Trigger and games like Earthbound, Yoshi's Island, and DKC 2 don't get priority over... Full Throttle and Panzer Dragoon. No offense, but who has even heard of those games?

How is it fair that 1987 gets all NES games but 1995 can only have 1 SNES game?

I voted 1995 because it has DKC2, perhaps the greatest 2-D platformer ever.

Well, 87 hasn't cut yet (whereas it looks like 2006 had already peaked by now), so at least 95 is faring a little better as we get away from the monstrous board vote.

If we're going to get twice as many games displayed on the match pictures for Round 3 and beyond, that would improve 1995 by giving it Earthbound and Yoshi's Island, a notable improvement over not having those games. And I guess we can get the PS1 into the match pic as well.

1987 has Zelda, which laws down the LAW.

2001 is doing all of this and Melee fans haven't even rallied yet. My first semifinal pick isn't looking so great.

I wonder if we'll get trends due to Chrono Trigger being terrible in Europe...

Oohh yea someone said DKC2 is their favorite 2D platformer. Totally agree here, right along with Mega Man X.

Only underrated by the short sighted. Aside from the quality and history of the games in 1987, it benefits strongly from Breath of the Wild, and I think it and all the other Zelda years are going to run roughshod over the bracket.

I guess it's possible, although the NES in general wasn't that popular in Europe either. 1995 did get under 80% in the UK last round against 1986.

Fixed that for you. I am unlikely to get back that high this contest, as I have guaranteed 4 points lost by the end of the round.

yeah that's a problem for 1996, not 1995

Plus, 96 got Super Mario RPG, which god knows it needs.

Double check your bracket and then submit a ticket to Allen.

Even if your bracket were DQ'd, you'd still be on the leaderboard.

How do you figure? 87 is keeping it close despite brackets and the monster CT early vote. It has all day to take advantage of its own monster Zelda day vote.

1987 could still pull this out. The night vote probably won't be kind to 1995.

Chrono Trigger back to its choking dog ways after one great contest. Melee ruins everything again.

I am puzzled how polarized predictions were for 1995/1987. Everyone who picked '95 thought it would be a blowout. And then like five people had '87 winning.
