Yep... this match proves that the picture order matters. A lot. This round is going to be so screwy. I hope the round 2 pictures will be different (and fairer).

2005 is really dominating, though. 1978 is almost as popular as 1979, so the difference between 2005 and 2009 this round is pretty large. Well, except that 1978's pic representation is worse than 1979's, so I guess the difference isn't quite THAT big.

Is 2006 really underperforming? 1981 is a pretty decent year relative to the other pre-1985 years.

Currently 2006 is expected to get 68.68% against 1989 if we hold the 80s vote in to be constant.

The issue is we have no idea what Donkey Kong's strength is due to all of the SFF in 2004 and 2009.

I found myself surprised to vote for 1981, but it's got three classic games listed I'd goof around with anytime while I quit every listed 2006-game pretty early upon playing them. I struggled to think of what I liked from 2006 besides Wii Sports and the Wii.

2006 could still beat 2011 since some of this was realizing 1981's got several games I like...just don't expect much cheering from me for 2006 until I realize there are some games I forgot I love from it.

BTW, can someone ask Allen too add a games list if you hover over the match? Or even better, text with a list below the match? Not having a list is a significant problem IMO. Most people won't wait for the pics to change, and then won't recall the games shown if they do wait.

If this is mainly affecting those outside the US and Canada, the reduced vote totals from this issue should be extremely pronounced in a few hours from now when North America makes up less than 50% of the incoming votes (based on continent polls).

I always have to use this topic becase I only get one picture on main page. It rolls after a while but never changes.

If we're going to keep rotating pictures, at least speed up the rotation animation. It takes about 21 seconds for all 5 pictures to appear through the rotation animation.

This is the JavaScript code that produces the rotating pictures:

After fooling around with that code, we could get the pictures to rotate faster by changing all 4 instances of "5000" to a lower number such as 3000 or 2500.

I miss the angst that comes in these contests. I wanna see kids being angry that people like Zelda more than Dark Souls.

Actually scratch that I don't, I have Dark Souls winning in my bracket.

I don't know, I took 1990>2000, and this is the one pick I'm really regretting after seeing the picture format. Even if Majora doesn't get the first picture slot, FFIX or Pokémon could, whereas 1990 needs to have SMB3 in the first slot to even have a chance.

We're 3/8 for the strongest game appearing at the top (1981, 1989 and maybe 2009). I've also noticed the game featured with the year appears in the second slot 7/8 times (1979's Asteroids appeared third).

If we keep the 70s vote-in results constant 2009 is expected to get 42.64% against 2005, that's a bit more than I thought. Though using an 8-way poll with the possibility of SFF may not be the best idea...
